Enjoy! The Jenks Trojans went on the road as the newly top ranked team in 6A-1 and knocked off Broken Arrow 31-14. While the first quarter was full of fireworks and exciting plays, things settled down from there and the Trojans were able to dominate the Tigers with their balanced rushing attack and ferocious defense. For the complete game recap, check that out RIGHT HERE. For now, we take a look at some of the individual standouts from their win over BA and how they look as prospects right now. [player_tooltip player_id="38697" first="AJ" last="Brown"] & [player_tooltip player_id="61129" first="Colemon" last="Thurber"] - 2022 Defensive Linemen Full disclosure, this list is done in alphabetical order. But if we did it based on the most dominant performance, these two players would probably be at the top as well. Jenks’ defense was lights out on Friday night as they gave up just one touchdown in Broken Arrow. They also held the Tigers to under 20 yards rushing throughout the evening. Leading the way up front was the combination of [player_tooltip player_id="38697" first="AJ" last="Brown"] at defensive tackle and [player_tooltip player_id="61129" first="Colemon" last="Thurber"] at defensive end. We loved these two prospects coming into the season and after seeing the first half of their senior years, we haven’t changed that opinion and believe they should be considered two of the better available defensive linemen in the state’s 2022 class. Brown is so powerful at the defensive tackle position but also has decisive speed that allowed him to get into the backfield. As for Thurber, we have no idea what coaches are waiting for in coming after the 6’3 225 defensive end because all he’s done is absolutely wreck shop against any offensive lineman he’s gone against. He hasn’t been slowed down yet and the 1-2 punch of him and Brown is going to be a big problem for opposing offenses. [player_tooltip player_id="160658" first="Glenny" last="Jones"] - 2022 Athlete On the second play of the game, [player_tooltip player_id="160658" first="Glenny" last="Jones"] got behind the Broken Arrow secondary and would catch a 61-yard touchdown to give the Trojans the lead just 20 seconds into the game. Jones came into this season looking to fill the void left by [player_tooltip player_id="38514" first="Jayden" last="Patrick"] from last year’s state championship team. A shutdown corner and an electric player at the wide receiver position. Coming into the year, we knew that Jones would be successful on defense as a corner considering what we saw from him throughout the offseason. However, he’s turned into arguably the best threat at wide receiver in terms of big play potential. 2023 wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id="98178" first="Ty" last="Walls"] is right there in the conversation but Jones has that extra gear where he can take it to the house on any play. Jones’ stock is soaring in the state’s 2022 class and should be considered a high priority for an electric receiver and corner who can impact the game in a variety of ways. [player_tooltip player_id="47955" first="Jaiden" last="Carroll"] & [player_tooltip player_id="157457" first="Jalyn" last="Stanford"] - 2023 Running Backs While 2025 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="188014" first="Shaker" last="Reisig"] got things going on Friday night with three touchdown passes in the first quarter, it was the running back duo of [player_tooltip player_id="47955" first="Jaiden" last="Carroll"] and [player_tooltip player_id="157457" first="Jalyn" last="Stanford"] that were steady presences in the Jenks offense and helped lead the Trojans to the win. Both juniors, Carroll and Stanford have the chance to be a legit two-headed monster at running back for the next season and a half. And they bring something different to the table other than just giving the other back rest. Carroll has the ability to be an absolute workhorse as he showed on Friday night, carrying the ball over 20 times for over 100 yards. Meanwhile, Stanford would come in and would explode for big plays as he could hit that extra gear in the open field that allowed him to make some big plays within the running game. He didn’t have as many carries, but he finished with nearly 100 yards in the win. Stanford also played well on the defensive side of the ball at one of the safety positions. [player_tooltip player_id="160663" first="Max" last="Paskvan"] - 2022 Kicker Our final prospect from the Trojans is their kicker in senior [player_tooltip player_id="160663" first="Max" last="Paskvan"]. We knew coming into the season that Paskvan had the chance to be one of the better kickers in the state’s senior class. Paskvan has a strong leg and was able to showcase his skills on Friday night in the win over Broken Arrow. He lined up and absolutely drilled a 49-yard field goal in the second half of their victory over Broken Arrow. Paskvan also showcased his kicking power during kickoff’s as he would get some great hang time on his kicks and put a couple in the end zone as well. We continue to promote kickers across Oklahoma because their recruitment is so brutal compared to the other positions. Paskvan was also featured on this week’s Specialists Corner from fellow Prep Redzone writer Bryce McKinnis.
