Standings
- (7-2) Marquette
- (6-3) Kingsford
- (5-4) Menominee
- (4-5) Gladstone
- (1-8) Escanaba
Marquette
This league features a 3-way tie for 1st place as Marquette, Kingsford, and Menominee all went 3-1 in league play. Last season, Marquette exceeded expectations going 6-1 with two great playoff wins, one against then-undefeated Mt. Pleasant. This year, the Redmen showcased the best offense in the league at 35.8PPG and the 4th defense with 27.2PAPG. Marquette is now in the postseason facing undefeated Mt. Pleasant which kicks off later tonight.
Offensive MVP – Austin Ridl
Defensive MVP – Trevor Simon
Kingsford
This is a team who instead of facing non-league teams from Michigan, faces many teams from Wisconsin. Kingsford has been playing well, having lost against Marquette and two great Wisconsin teams. Kingsford averaged 29.3PPG (2nd) and 23.3PAPG (2nd)
Offensive MVP – Michael Meneguzzo
Defensive MVP – Brody Kopp
Menominee
The Maroons were very up-and-down this season finishing 5-4 yet sharing the league title. This team defeated Marquette 34-13 during week 7, yet fell to Kingsford last week 34-27. Menominee faces a good Calumet team in the D6 playoffs, and I expect the matchup to be competitive. The Maroons averaged 25PPG (3rd) and 25.3PAPG (3rd)
Offensive MVP – Cooper Conway
Defensive MVP – Cooper Conway
Gladstone
A very unpredictable season for Gladstone. They began the season with a great win against 7-2 Calumet, then only went on to win against poor teams, with a few very close games. Nevertheless, Gladstone faces 7-2 Negaunee in the D6 playoffs, who they narrowly lost to 31-30 during week 7. Gladstone had the #4 offense with 22.2PPG and the #1 defense with 20PAPG.
Offensive MVP – John Hansen
Defensive MVP – Hunter Potier
Escanaba
Not much to say for Escanaba as they’re for sure on a down year, and on an 8 game losing streak. The Eskymos had a league-worst offense with 21.8PPG and the worst defense with 41PAPG.
Offensive MVP – Scott Hiller
Defensive MVP – Giovanni Strong
