Continue ReadingThe 2021 season has moved along at a quick speed, something that was missed with last year’s constant COVID-19 delay’s. In turn, we are seeing better performances from last year’s sophomores who had a lot on their plate as young players. With 20 players that are currently ranked for the 2023 class, that number is expected to grow with the next update in December. This class is brewing up to be one of the more impressive classes in recent memory, with an elite pass rusher and quarterback leading the charge.
Week 7 had some more great action to provide spectators as teams are starting to sense the conference championships and playoffs are almost here. There is playoff atmospheres at every high school football game in the state now, with the brisk temperatures and added fan attendance causing players to feel some added juice.
Jalen Thompson Jalen Thompson 6'3" | 245 lbs | DL Cass Tech | 2023 State MI
Despite the forfeited game that Cass Tech has had to deal with this week due to not being able to find a team to play, Prep Redzone’s number one ranked player for the Class of 2023 has been a force this season for the Technicians. If you play for Cass Tech, you can expect a difficult schedule on a weekly basis, turning promising recruits into superstars. Thompson excels with his footwork and his ability to get behind the offensive line. He can rip his hands through an offensive lineman and produce power with his lower body. He’s as dominant a junior that we’ve seen in Michigan, and it will be exciting to continue to track his progress as the season moves along. With 16 offers and counting, Thompsons name will be present in the national recruiting conversation for the rest of this season and next year’s summer circuit.
1 of our all Americans is Jalen Thompson 6‘4“ 238 DE Detroit Cass Tech. He can dominate with speed, strong and violent hands and superior flexibility. Runs very well and plays with an aggressive take no prisoners attitude.@D1jay_ 3.5 GPA big-time talent pic.twitter.com/E8jm4HEuZ9

Drew Viotto Drew Viotto 6'4" | 220 lbs | QB Walled Lake Western | 2023 State MI
One of the better gunslingers in the state of Michigan, Viotto has brought it this season and will certainly be a riser in the next update. He has a tremendous quarterback frame with some height at 6’3 and room for weight to be put on. He makes solid decisions with the football and can certainly avoid turnovers. At a young age, it’s key for playmakers like Viotto to take care of the football and to not stay locked on one receiver from snap to throw. The Walled Lake Western quarterback puts some nice zip on the ball and has steady feet that stay square and balanced throughout the play. Viotto visited the University of Toledo on Saturday to take in their game against Northern Illinois as he continues to contemplate his recruiting decision.

Brayden Courser Brayden Courser 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Detroit Catholic Central | 2023 State MI
Courser was one of the main 2023 recruits that caught my eye during summer scouting, which in turn landed him a ranking of #20 in the class of 2023 rankings that were released just a few months ago. Courser had a dominant game against De La Salle in week 6 at Wayne State University, stacking up 17 tackles and 3 tackles for loss. He has a multitude of quality traits, but the two that seem to standout the most his leadership qualities and his instincts. He seems to always take the right route to the ball carrier which causes headaches for offenses trying to run the ball. This past weekend, Brayden and his family visited Eastern Michigan University for their game.
