Kellen Kinzer Kellen Kinzer 6'4" | 220 lbs | TE St. Cloud Cathedral | 2023 State MN | TE/DE | St. Cloud Cathedral (2023)
Kinzer showed early why is one of our top tight ends in the Class of 2023. He showed a terrific catch radius and was good for bringing in throws that could be slightly off the mark. I thought he showed soft hands and caught nearly everything that came his way. Was certainly the biggest bright spot in the receiving core for the Crusaders in the first half.
Jaegar Ash | Tackle | Milaca (2023)
Ash was one of my top big dogs when it came to both offensive lines on Friday night in Milaca. He showed a good bend at the waist and I really liked how violent and quick this young man’s hands were throughout the game. Ash used his 240-pound body to his advantage as the Wolves o-line outsized the Crusaders line by about 20-30 pounds which allowed Ash to get tremendous leverage all night paving the way for six rushing touchdowns for the Wolves. I would love to see some additional tape on this young man.
Emanuel Kutzera | WR | St. Cloud Cathderal (2023)
Mainly in the second half, Kutzera showed that with his 6’4 size that he can be a solid pass-catcher for the Crusaders. I really liked this kid’s balance when he caught the football, as he also showed a great body turn when he had to adjust the angle from where the football was coming in from. From what my eyes could see, he caught every ball that came his way in the second half and showed off a route-running ability to watch in the coming seasons for the Crusader’s offense. He’ll certainly need to get into the weight room to get more physical, but if he can do that he’ll continue to be a better performer. No game tape available yet.
Wyatt Maurer | Guard | Milaca (2024)
Maurer was one of the youngest prospects on our list from Friday night, but he certainly did not play little on the offensive line for the Wolves. This young man was a mauler when it came to driving the bus to the next level of play. He also showed an elusive mentality while turning his hips to face another defender in which the one rep I watched he pancaked him into the grass. Standing at 6’3 225 pounds already, I think this young man will turn in a solid future for this Milaca Wolves program and hopefully get a chance at college football as he increases his size in the weight room in the coming years. No tape yet.
John Hawkins John Hawkins 6'0" | 160 lbs | WR St. Cloud Cathedral | 2022 MN | WR/DB | St. Cloud Cathedral (2022)
Hawkins from my eyes showed a good burst as a WR prospect that operated out of mostly screenplays. He didn’t accumulate boatloads of yards but was consistent when the ball was in his hands getting chunks of yards that I think would be even more helpful on 3rd and short situations. I think one skill set John can develop is his decisiveness as to when he has football. On some plays, he’ll try to turn his hips, but the timing is slightly off so he’ll end up in the hands of the defender. I think some work in that department will help out this skillset as he has good speed, just needs to develop better timing with his footwork.
Jack Nord | DE/TE | Milaca (2023)
In the reps I watched out of Jack Nord, he showed a solid attack level when crunching into the lane of the QB pocket. Being a leaner defensive end, Nord showed good speed on the line and closed on his fair share of ball carriers in the second half, and was sharp at closing the edges of the rushing inside rushing lanes for the Wolves.
Evan Wahlin | RB | St. Cloud Cathedral (2022)
Wahlin was not very active in the first half, but this young man was a fighter for yards in the second half. He played hard-nosed football in the second half with his inside and outside carries in which he used his strong lower body to gets some quality yards after contact. Wahlin showed some grit in his runs too, running with good authority especially thru that contact I mentioned above.
Chase Rauschendorfer | LB | Milaca (2022)
The most physical defender I got to watch last night in Milaca was by far Milaca’s Chase Rauschendorfer. This young man played with high energy and showed a significant rip on his tackles when he took down the Crusader’s ball carriers that carried a lot of weight. Chase certainly plays bigger than his 6’0 175 pound frame and also was a gobbler for tackles for a loss in the backfield last night. I will certainly say that Rauschendorfer was my Defensive Big Dog of the Game for his efforts at linebacker in the Wolves’ homecoming win over St. Cloud Cathedral. A gritty linebacker that I want to see more tape on.
Stephen Ellingson | Athlete | St. Cloud Cathedral (2022)
It was the only play I was zoomed in on coming from Stephen Ellingson this Friday night, but to me, it was the best play of the game for St. Cloud Cathedral and worth some words. Ellingson came out of nowhere with this play and sprung for 50 yards down the sideline of Crusaders bench. He didn’t go untouched either, he ran thru with his 6’3 180-pound frame by right thru the ankle tackles of the Milaca Wolves defenders and accelerated thru and took it into the end zone. Ellingson has most of his clips on defense film-wise, but maybe after that sprint will see more looks on the offensive side of the ball.
Carter Walter | RB/LB | Milaca (2022)
Walter combined for 50% of the Wolves scoring as he logged three touchdowns in their homecoming win over St. Cloud Cathedral. Walter’s running ability showed good speed, but what skillset I liked, even more, was the flip in his hips with his turning ability. He showed this on numerous occasions throughout the game. The other skill set I liked from Walter, was his stamina deep on his runs. As he was on the voyage with a long run, he didn’t ease up like I commonly see in long runs from small-school backs and kept his speed level from the start.
Big Dog of the Game:
Jack Schoenborn | RB/CB, Milaca (2023)
Three touchdowns, two takeaways defensively (2 INTS) drilled out a superb night for our Big Dog of the Game, Jack Schoenborn of Milaca. Schoenborn did an exceptional job of running downhill on the Crusader’s defense all night long and especially in the first half. Schoenborn was a slippery runner that the Crusaders struggled to get their hands on as in the first drive along he and RB Carter Walter were swapping first down after first down on the first play of the new set of downs. Schoenborn gets a lot of his effective at running back as one-cut back that makes one effective cut in the heart of the defense and it’s just enough to get separation and spring away for the endzone. According to Hudl, Schoenborn has been having a heck of three games, logging 9 total touchdowns (8 rush, 1 receiving) in his last three games against Foley (5), Princeton (1), and St. Cloud Cathedral (3). This young man might be undersized (5’9 160) but he’s got a lot of speed, good footwork, to be a solid small school college prospect.
