Let’s take a look at the most intriguing matchups you should keep an eye on.
No. 20 St. Joseph (Hamm.) (1-1) at Cherokee (1-0)
When: Friday, 9/10 at 6pm
St. Joseph (Hamm.) consistently features a loaded roster full of athletes that will play at the next level. St. Joseph looks to rebound after a tough loss to Holy Spirit last week 35-24. On the other hand, Cherokee is a young team that showed they did not lose a step despite losing players due to graduation. St. Joseph’s secondary features D1 prospect Jahqir Haley who currently holds an offer from Sacred Heart University. Haley is a football magnet who looks to add to his collection of interceptions. This game should have a great atmosphere from the fans along with some good football. Expect this game to be a hard fought battle from both programs.
Haddonfield (1-0) at West Deptford (0-2)
When: Friday, 9/10 at 7pm
This matchup is arguably one of the best rivalries in South Jersey as West Deptford looks to avoid a 0-3 start. Haddonfield looks to continue their success after capturing a victory over Pleasantville 23-14. West Deptford should have their hands full against a team that is loaded with confidence. West Deptford looks to earn their first win of this season if they can contain the run and limit the pass attack. It will not be an easy task.
No. 9 Millville (2-0) at Shawnee (1-0)
When: Friday, 9/10 at 7pm
Millville Thunderbolts are off to great start to their season after a blow out win over Mainland last week 62-0. Millville is loaded with speed that is oftentimes a mismatch for their opponent. Syracuse commit LaQuint Allen leads the way with 236 yards and 2 TD’s who is on pace for a spectacular season. Freshman Wide Receiver Lotzier Brooks is a player to watch who currently has 3 TD’s. He shows no sign of a rookie as he is a dangerous return specialist for the Thunderbolts. On the other hand, Shawnee is no slouch as they look to capture a win as well. This will be an exciting game to watch and big test for the Thunderbolts.
Woodrow Wilson (1-0) at Winslow (1-1)
When: Saturday, 9/11 at 7pm
Both teams have premiere athletes such as Devin Kargman Devin Kargman 6'2" | QB Woodrow Wilson | 2022 State NJ (Woodrow) and Hamas Duren (Winslow) who are leading their teams under center. Kargman who is an elite pocket passer and Duren who is a dual-threat should be interesting to watch. Wilson is seeking another victory after defeating West Deptford 28-7 last week. On the other hand, Winslow captured their first victory as well over Camden Catholic 42-20. Expect this game to be a high scoring contest with plenty of points on the board.
