QB, Sam DeTillio, Avon
The Junior signal caller played just the first half last week in a 55-18 victory over Glenville. However, he completed 10 of 11 passes for 187 yards and 4 TD while adding another touchdown on the ground. In the pocket, he makes quick reads and sees the entire field. He also displays good arm strength delivering the deep ball with very good accuracy and touch. On shorter throws, he displays good spot on accuracy as he puts the ball in the spot where only the receiver can catch it placing it on the correct shoulder maximizing yards after the catch.
WR Collin Dixon, 6’2, 210,Tallmadge
The Junior WR had an incredible game last week against Coventry as he caught 8 passes for 152 yards and 2 TD. On the season, he caught 21 passes for 476 yards (22.67 ypc) and 5 TD. He plays in the slot. He shows good quickness off the ball as he takes long strides to eat up the cushion of the DB. He is a smooth route runner showing good hip fluidity as he breaks off his stem at a 45 degree angle on slant routes. He possesses good hands as he can make the catch with his hands on on target passes with ease. After the catch, he shows very good acceleration and play speed as he outruns all defenders for a long touchdown.
RB, Donny Hardy Jr, 6’0, 185, Chagrin Falls
The Junior RB had a very good game last week as he rushed for 188 yards on 21 carries (8.95 ypc) and 2 TD as Chagrin Falls was victorious in their 21-0 win over Brookside. He shows very good patience as he waits for his blocks to be set up, shows good burst through the hole displaying good contact balance and power as he runs behind his pads breaking tackles from LB with ease. Once he enters the secondary, he accelerates to top speed quickly outrunning all defenders for a long touchdown run. A reliable receiver coming out of the backfield, he runs swing routes, makes the catch with his hands and uses his good power and play strength to run over DB picking up a 1st down in the process.
LB, Tony Grasso, 5’10, Elyria Catholic
The Junior LB played well last week against Midview. He had an interception that was returned for a TD. He also made 8 tackles and helped Elyria Catholic win 42-37 in what was a very exciting game. He plays as a Will LB. Against the pass, he quickly keys and diagnoses the play, reads the QB and uses his good play speed and athletic ability to put himself in position to make a play on the ball. He displays good ball skills as he shows good hands to come down with the interception and sprints to the end zone for a pick six. Against the run, he shows very good instincts as he takes the correct angle in pursuit and shows very good play strength as he brings down the elusive RB with ease.
DB, Brian Cox, 6’0, 190, Perry
The Junior DB had a good game last week as he made 7 tackles and helped Perry win 43-7 over Madison. He plays as a SS. Against the run, he quickly keys and diagnoses the play, showing good play speed and instincts as he takes the correct angle in pursuit and gets to the ball quickly while displaying very good play strength as he brings smaller RB down with force. Against the pass, he uses his good athletic ability to patrol his zone while reading the QB. He then uses his very good closing speed to get to the ball and uses his good form tackling ability to play with good leverage and bring down larger TE with ease preventing a significant gain.
