We are back covering the star-studded Philadelphia Catholic League this fall and are excited to show off what that league has in store. A ton of talent from top to bottom, there is no slouch in this league. Let’s get right into each game and each standout!
*Cardinal O’Hara 7 - Father Judge 42

[player_tooltip player_id="178646" first="Mike" last="Conway"] | 6’2, 225 | LB | FJ | 2022

Mike VanHorn | ATH | FJ

[player_tooltip player_id="142782" first="Eric" last="Smith"] | 5’10, 180 | RB | FJ | 2024

Jake Marquis | ATH | FJ

Judge has dominated competition early on this fall. Tape from week one was hard to come by, as was the story this week except for some solid plays from senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id="178646" first="Mike" last="Conway"] who recently debuted on our updated 2022 rankings. He was seen moving well laterally and picking his holes well. He seems as comfortable as ever as the man in the middle. I hear Marquis and VanHorn are producing, as is [player_tooltip player_id="142782" first="Eric" last="Smith"] who I am holding out on to properly eval until more sophomore film is released.
*Roman Catholic 7 - Bonner & Prendie 12

[player_tooltip player_id="164519" first="Mikey" last="Preston"] | 5’10, 165 | DB | RC | 2024

William Felder Jr. | 6’0, 165 | DB/WR | RC | 2025

[player_tooltip player_id="164528" first="David" last="Macon"] | 5’10, 160 | DB | RC | 2024

[player_tooltip player_id="186270" first="Elijah" last="Steward"] | 5’10, 180 | ATH | RC | 2022

Mao Howell | ATH | RC | 2023

[player_tooltip player_id="98503" first="Kareem" last="Lewis"] | 6’1, 200 | DB | RC | 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="140947" first="Elijah" last="Beaty"] | 6’0, 160 | DB | BP | 2023

Dave Washington | 6’1, 190 | ATH | BP | 2022

Damir Williams-Bey | 5’11, 180 | DB | BP | 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="161717" first="Myles" last="Reynolds"] | 6’2, 190 | DL | BP | 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="91467" first="Mason" last="Peterson"] | 5’10, 205 | RB | BP | 2022

Scott Bernhard | 6’1, 215 | LB | BP | 2022

A tough battle where yards were hard to come by. This was a tougher task for Bonner, now dealing with premier talent [player_tooltip player_id="141010" first="Tyseer" last="Denmark"] and a young unpredictable QB in [player_tooltip player_id="142809" first="Jonathan" last="Ingram"]. The Bonner defense was up for it. [player_tooltip player_id="140947" first="Elijah" last="Beaty"]’s first test of the year was passed, as he and crew were able to limit [player_tooltip player_id="141010" first="Tyseer" last="Denmark"] from making game-changing plays. Beaty showed up in run support and was consistently in phase on his matchup for the majority of the night. Damir Williams-Bey showed up as well, coming up with an interception near the sideline. [player_tooltip player_id="161717" first="Myles" last="Reynolds"] is a fine example of a Watchlist player who I have kept my eye on, who has proven himself time and time again. He’s proven he deserves a spot on our rankings, as he has been more than productive as a pass-rusher for Bonner. David Washington was everywhere for BP. 5 catches for 51 yards and two touchdowns, the only scores for BP. He also had 8 tackles, a sack, and 2 TFLs on defense. Let’s not forget special teams, Washington blocked a punt as well! [player_tooltip player_id="91467" first="Mason" last="Peterson"] continues to churn yards in the run game, now averaging 150+ypg through two games.
For Roman, their defense was just as formidable especially in the secondary. Freshman prospect William Felder Jr. has been officially put on my radar with a solid overall performance. [player_tooltip player_id="164519" first="Mikey" last="Preston"] hauled in a Bonner throw, showing good ball awareness and good wiggle in open space on the return. [player_tooltip player_id="164528" first="David" last="Macon"] came down with an interception as well. The secondary as a whole is going to be great for years to come.

*Conwell-Egan 26 - Interboro 7

[player_tooltip player_id="140979" first="Luke" last="Trunell"] | 6’3, 220 | LB | CEC | 2023

[player_tooltip player_id="195704" first="Dante" last="Morris"] | 5’11, 200 | ATH | CEC | 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="118833" first="Colin" last="Majors"] | ATH | CEC | 2023

Gavin Pond | 5’11, 185 | LB | CEC | 2024

[player_tooltip player_id="140979" first="Luke" last="Trunell"], a favorite linebacking prospect of mine, set the tone for Conwell-Egan with 12 tackles, all of which were mean aggressive takedowns. Love his size and his instincts. [player_tooltip player_id="195704" first="Dante" last="Morris"] continues his wrath on defenses. He’s accumulating yards at ease, touchdowns too. He’s up to five on the year. [player_tooltip player_id="118833" first="Colin" last="Majors"] provided reps at running back, SWR, and SCB. Love his defensive back reps, utilizing solid trail technique to his advantage, coming up with multiple PBUs. Want to see what he’s capable of against better competition.
*LaSalle College 10 - Malvern Prep 7

[player_tooltip player_id="27560" first="Samuel" last="Brown"] | RB | LSC | 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="140975" first="Darold" last="Dengohe"] | 6’3, 255 | DL | LSC | 2023

[player_tooltip player_id="140885" first="Amir" last="Anderson"] | 5’11, 180 | DB/WR | LSC | 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="140862" first="Ryan" last="Moore"] | ATH | LSC | 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="27556" first="Abdul" last="Carter"] | 6’3, 225 | RB/LB | LSC | 2022

Alan Paturzo | 6’3, 205 | QB | LSC | 2022

LaSalle is now 2-0 against stellar competition. They may have not pulled this one out without stars [player_tooltip player_id="27560" first="Samuel" last="Brown"] and [player_tooltip player_id="27556" first="Abdul" last="Carter"] returning this week. They both turned in big games. Carter was incredible from his linebacker spot. The Rutgers commit was playing at a different speed than everyone else on the field. Incredible read-react ability combined with elite burst to the ball carrier. His play separated him from the rest of the pack. For back-to-back weeks, I have come away mightily impressed by senior defensive back [player_tooltip player_id="140885" first="Amir" last="Anderson"]’s play. Great balance when adjusting to brakes. Good pad level throughout his drop. He was seeing the ball really well and was in command of his matchup. Smart player who understands leverage use as well. Alan Paturzo is a new name on my radar. LaSalle’s QB1 should off good accuracy and timing on some rhythm throws. Looked like he was in complete control of the offense.
*Neumann-Goretti 6 - Archbishop Wood 28

Emannuel Sia | ATH | Wood | 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="140970" first="Jaleel" last="Davis-Shabazz"] | 6’0, 185 | DB | Wood | 2023

Mason Yacovelli | 6’2, 270 | OL/DL | Wood | 2022

I was surprised by the outcome of this one, I shouldn’t be based on the sheer talent on both sides of this one. Archbishop Wood’s defense is solely highlighted in this one. The secondary consisting of [player_tooltip player_id="140861" first="Andrew" last="McHugh"] and newly found Ryan Wilson has to be one of the better safety tandems in the PCL. Ryan Wilson has added himself to the Watchlist to be ranked on the next junior class update. Awesome job all game setting the edge, awesome job making his presence felt in run support. He came screaming down from his hole with killer intentions. Consider me a fan.[player_tooltip player_id="140969" first="Khadir" last="Rowe"], [player_tooltip player_id="27570" first="Emmanuel" last="Sia"], and [player_tooltip player_id="140970" first="Jaleel" last="Davis-Shabazz"] were as lockdown as it gets as a DB unit. They were up for every challenge presented to them on the day. The real dominators of the game were defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="140967" first="Eric" last="Gardner"] and [player_tooltip player_id="140968" first="Tyrese" last="Whitaker"]. 3.5 sacks amongst the two dogs. Both of these players deserve jumps in our rankings based on their brilliant starts to the season.
*Lansdale Catholic 14 - Pottsgrove 39

*Archbishop Ryan 29 - Upper Moreland 33

Rob McConnell | 6’2, 215 | QB | ABR | 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="186318" first="Liam" last="Soto"] | 6’2, 290 | OL | ABR | 2022

One new name and one old. McConnell was productive in a tough loss that saw Ryan lose by four. McConnell cashed in on three scores, two with his arm, one with his legs. He’s on my radar. I need more ABRyan kids.
*Rock Creek (MD) 42 - Archbishop Carroll 0
None
*West Catholic 12 - Episcopal Academy 27

[player_tooltip player_id="140932" first="K’Saan" last="Greene"] | 5’10, 180 | RB | WC | 2023

[player_tooltip player_id="140841" first="Naidir" last="Hilliard"] | 5’10, | ATH | WC | 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="140841" first="Naidir" last="Hilliard"] got in the endzone on this one which was nice to see. [player_tooltip player_id="140932" first="K’Saan" last="Greene"] showed out too, 30 carries for 154 yards. K’Saan is one of the toughest runners I’ve covered in the PCL. Tough on purpose. His hole choice/selection is great. Understands in real-time which hole will open up for him. Good play speed from this kid. I’ve been a fan of both these players, [player_tooltip player_id="157113" first="Zymeen" last="Howell"] as well.
*St. Joseph’s Prep 40 - St. Mary Ryken (MD) 0

Kahseim Phillips | 5’9, 185 | RB | SJP | 2024

[player_tooltip player_id="141016" first="David" last="Washington Jr"]. | 6’0, 190 | ATH | SJP | 2024

[player_tooltip player_id="146546" first="Julian" last="Cervantes"] | 6’0, 275 | OL | SJP | 2023

Anthony Sacca | 6’4, 190 | ATH | SJP | 2025

Elijah Jones | 5’11, 180 | WR | SJP | 2024

[player_tooltip player_id="156276" first="Alec" last="Treadway"] | 6’3, 265 | OL | SJP | 2022

SJP made their debut this week and the young defensive stars were out. As was new QB1 Semaj Jones, who I was fond of before the season. Jones, who is just a sophomore, showed a ton of poise and calmness in the pocket. Seeing a young player command the offense is always a special thing. Kahseim Phillips, another special 2024 prospect, scored on two separate runs. The trio of [player_tooltip player_id="146677" first="James" last="Heard"], [player_tooltip player_id="27736" first="Josiah" last="Trotter"], and [player_tooltip player_id="98507" first="Omillio" last="Agard"] were a pleasure to watch. They were in mid-season form. Hearing good things about freshman prospect Anthony Sacca. I’ll be on the lookout for him moving forward.
