Julius Jackson – St. Johns – CB – 6’1″ 165 lbs
Jackson was making plays all over on Friday. He made hits and broke up passes consistently throughout the game, but when it mattered most, Jackson changed the game. Perrysburg was trying to push the ball down the field to score on the last minute to win. Jackson jumped up, made a heck of an Interception, and then weaved through the entire offense and across the field to return it for a game-winning pick 6.
Dominic Arnold – St. Francis De Sales (Toledo) – MLB/SS – 5’10” 185 lbs
It was the defenses for both teams that really stood out on Friday. The entire game was tough, physical, and hard-hitting in the trenches football. The final score ended up being 15-13 because Arnold and company were able to have a goal-line stand to win the game. Arnold was making the calls at the line of scrimmage and they were able to penetrate the A- gap and blow up the final play for Start forcing a turnover on downs.
Marcash Johnson – Bowsher – CB – 5’9″ 165 lbs
Johnson was consistent on Friday and every rep looked the same. He was able to make a few key plays including an interception in the back of the endzone to kill the momentum they had lost on the long drive. He also had a few big tackles where he was able to square up on the offensive player, come to balance, and make a big hit.
Christian Brown – Rossford – WR/DB – 6’0″ 185 lbs
Brown was the beneficiary of an overall great defensive play on a punt block. It wasn’t supposed to be a block, but the punter dropped the ball, picked it up, and somewhat got the kick away. Christian was running full speed back towards the punter and the ball bounced right into his arms and he caught it without losing any speed and took it to the house for 6. It was the oddest punt return for a touchdown because it was forced by pressure, pure luck, and a heck of an effort by Brown.
Case Boos – Eastwood – WR/CB – 5’10” 155 lbs
We talked about his brother who lit it up on offense, and now we see Case who had a massive defensive impact himself. He was able to jump up and make a heck of an interception and then started racing down the field. His lead blocker who cleared the way? His brother, Luke. Case followed Luke and they ended up in the endzone together on a pick 6. Case was catching passes on offense, but the coolest moment of the night was his pick 6 where his older brother guided him to the promised land.
