First Half
From the opening kick, the stadium was electric. It was a playoff-like atmosphere with a packed house on both ends, and the stakes were high in this rivalry matchup. Rockford opened the game kicking to Grandville’s Tyson Mann, who then took it 97 yards to the house. The score was quickly 8-0 Grandville. Rockford then stormed down the field, with QB Zak Ahern Zak Ahern 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Rockford | 2022 State MI scrambling into the endzone for a TD, the first of many for Ahern.
Rockford then forced a safety, which was immediately answered by a long run by Grandville RB Cade Pilzuk. After a few more drives, Rockford scored the last points of the half with another Zak Ahern Zak Ahern 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Rockford | 2022 State MI scramble. Rockford led 19-14 at halftime.
Second half & OT
Rockford came out of the gates fast in the 2nd half and Grandville had to play catchup. Though after Rockford went up 12 points two separate times, Grandville kept climbing back. At the end of the 4th, Grandville’s Tyson Mann scored another TD this one to tie it at 40-40.

These two teams then went into a very fitting and familiar overtime period, as the last time these two teams met was a 3OT game in the playoffs that saw Rockford winning. Shootout rules were in effect, and overtime was on. Grandville quickly scored but missed the 2PT conversion, though Rockford scored and missed their XP.
It was then onto double overtime, where the field was switched and the momentum was with Rockford. Rockford scored with another rush by Zak Ahern Zak Ahern 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Rockford | 2022 State MI , and the Rams defense came up big with a 4th down stop to seal the victory.

Rockford now sits atop the OK-Red at 4-0. They’ll face 2-2 Hudsonville next week.
Grandville on the other hand now stands at 1-3. They’re going to face 1-3 Jenison next week.
