Arizona saw an offensive explosion all throughout Friday night, with tons of guys across the state putting up crazy numbers. Some of these guys are highly touted recruits, while others have just established themselves and put their name on our radar. Here’s a look at some of the top offensive players from this past week:
[player_tooltip player_id="165903" first="Stephon" last="Daily"], <em>WR, Sierra Linda ’23<img class="size-medium wp-image-190933 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2021/08/PRZIcon-300x300.png" alt="" width="300" height="300" /></em>
Although Sierra Linda came up short against Kellis, Daily had a huge night hauling in 5 receptions for 275 yards and 3 TD’s. He sizes up with excellent length at 6'4" 175lbs and will be a huge mismatch throughout the season. He took numerous screens to the house on Friday, flashing deceptive speed with long strides. Good balance after contact as he broke a tackle and took it about 80 yards to the house. Still very raw and holds huge potential to be one of the state's top 2023 receivers.
[player_tooltip player_id="42837" first="Christian" last="Anaya"], <em>WR, Hamilton ’22</em>
No surprise here, but Anaya established himself as a clear WR1 target for Hamilton as he hauled in 10 receptions for 189 yards and 3 TD’s. This is a huge start for Anaya as he as a big opportunity to rise his stock this season, looking to build on his three offers from Montana State, Northern Arizona, and Northern Colorado. He tracked the ball well Friday night and showcased solid top end speed to take the top off the Desert Ridge defense. He's electric from both the slot and outsides and will continue to establish himself as one of the best receivers in the state.
[player_tooltip player_id="42783" first="Nicco" last="Marchiol"], <em>QB, Hamilton ’22</em>
The West Virginia commit threw for 345 yards and 5 TD’s while adding another 63 yards on the ground on a blowout win over Desert Ridge. Nothing we haven't seen from Marchiol, as he consistently hit throws with solid timing and placement, frequently targeting Anaya. He threw with good touch on deep balls and showed an excellent demeanor in the pocket, and will continue to have a strong senior season.
[player_tooltip player_id="110084" first="Richard" last="Stallworth"], <em>QB, Yuma Catholic ’23</em>
Another normal Friday night for Stallworth as he threw for 390 yards and 6 TD’s to blowout Bourgade Catholic. This kid continues to play lights out every week and is clearly transitioning his huge sophomore season from 2020 into 2021. Big time gunslinger with an excellent demeanor to drive the ball and take shots down the field. I don't think this is the last time Stallworth will have another performance like this, as he averages 360 passing yards per game.
<strong>Jordon Guevara</strong>, <em>WR, Liberty ’22</em><img class="size-medium wp-image-46064 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2020/08/B80AD962-2F86-4C72-B417-99AD3C874B43-300x184.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="184" />
Guevara was the definition of a big play receiver on Friday night, totaling 5 receptions for 207 yards and 2 TD’s and added 52 yards rushing as well. He's an explosive and dynamic player all around and is dangerous with the ball in his hands. He's a huge asset to a powerhouse west valley program, and he'll look to capitalize on that momentum this week against Boulder Creek.
[player_tooltip player_id="42829" first="EJ" last="Warner"], <em>QB, Brophy ’22</em>
Warner had a huge night as he threw for 284 yards and 5 TD’s and added another TD on the ground on a 49-0 blowout win over St. Mary’s. He displayed excellent mechanics in the pocket with good anticipation and delivered with a quick and fluid release. Quick and decisive with his reads as he processes the game quick, and he did a great job hitting seams with excellent timing. He also flashed the ability to throw receivers open, and is prone for a big year.
