St. Thomas Aquinas rolled past Monsignor Pace 56-6 in front of a patriotic crowd at Brian Piccolo Stadium. This game was essentially over after the Raiders were up 28-0 into the second quarter. A running clock was issued in the second half as St. Thomas Aquinas scored 56 unanswered. While I came to see 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="49982" first="Shemar" last="Stewart"], the powerful Raiders had other plans.
Blown assignments and turnovers hurt Monsignor Pace against a St. Thomas Aquinas team that doesn’t need any extra help putting points on the board. One mishap occurred when the Spartans set-up the Raiders with great field position after fumbling a kickoff return. 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="49995" first="Anthony" last="Hankerson"] turned the miscue into an easy rushing touchdown.
[player_tooltip player_id="50184" first="Camden" last="Brown"] - St. Thomas Aquinas
One of [player_tooltip player_id="50184" first="Camden" last="Brown"]’s two touchdowns was a 75-yard score that he could have ran to Jacksonville on before being touched. The 6-foot-3 Brown was left wide open and it was pitch and catch for quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="50029" first="Zion" last="Turner"]. It must have been a busted coverage by Monsignor Pace. Brown’s previous touchdown was a 45-yarder from Turner that got St. Thomas Aquinas on the board. His separation and speed was too much for the Spartan secondary to contain. The 3-star prospect is committed to Pittsburgh.
[player_tooltip player_id="50029" first="Zion" last="Turner"] - St. Thomas Aquinas
Turner’s mobility continues to impress me. On one play, the 6-foot-1 quarterback alluded pressure and kept his head up field to throw a strike in tight coverage. Turner side-stepped defenders and had plenty of arm strength to make the play. While not a scoring situation, I thought it was one of his best. Turner is a true dual-threat that can make plays out of broken situations. He holds multiple D-1 offers.
Joshisa Trader - Monsignor Pace
It was a rough night all-around for the Spartans. To his credit, I thought 2024 quarterback/wide receiver Joshisa Trader performed as well as he could under the circumstances. The 6-foot-1 Trader scampered up the middle for a huge gain in the first quarter before being tackled in the open field. It proved to be one of the Spartans best plays on the night. You could tell Trader has athleticism when given time. He holds D-1 offers from multiple programs.
Xavier Terrell - St. Thomas Aquinas
2023 Xavier Terrell scored an impressive 33-yard rushing touchdown to put St. Thomas Aquinas up 14-0. The 5-foot-8 running back cut back and ran up the far sideline to punch it in for six. For a moment, I thought Terrell was done in the backfield. His awareness and vision caught the Spartans on their heels an Terrell did the rest from there. It was Barry Sanders-esque in my opinion. Kansas and Tulane have offered.
