That doesn’t mean we can’t get excited about the potential of some of these young men. The players below are some that I feel will be big time playmakers when they become upperclassmen.
Plainfield QB Carsen Melvin Carsen Melvin 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB Westfield | 2025 State IN (6’3” and 185lbs) @carsenmelvin3
Already getting varsity playing time, Melvin is a guy that I have continuously written about early in his career. I don’t expect that to change and could see him developing into a Power 5 talent.
North Posey RB Jed Galvin Jed Galvin 5'10" | RB North Posey | 2025 State IN @GalvinJedidiah
A slow start to his varsity career, Galvin struggled in his first contest, gaining just 28 yards on 11 carries. Since then he’s exploded onto the scene running for over 100-yards in his next two games and averaging 9.83 yards per carry with three scores. Galvin is a guy that is already on our radars and should be on yours too.
South Vermillion WR Dallas Coleman Dallas Coleman 5'11" | RB South Vermillion | 2025 State IN @DallasC13742992
In just three games, Coleman has found the endzone in each game, four total times. Two of those three games, he’s recorded four catches for almost 100-yards. Currently, Coleman is averaging 22.1 yards per catch, showing some explosiveness to his game. He’s a solid kick returner as well. Coleman is yet another freshman making a mark early in his varsity career.
Delta jumbo ATH John Ranes John Ranes 6'3" | 245 lbs | OL New Palestine | 2025 State IN (6’3” and 230lbs)
At this point in his early development, it’s tough to say which side of the ball Ranes will end up on. What I do know is that he has already cracked the varsity rotation and is making an impact. Ranes had 16 tackles on the year, with 3 TFLs, .5 sack, recovered a fumble and has deflected two passes. Lineman develop slower than skill position players do and when one gets early playing time, you take notice. Ranes is a guy to watch moving forward.
Tindley LB Markus Dean Markus Dean 6'0" | 210 lbs | LB Tindley | 2025 State IN (6’ and 210lbs)
There’s not much info on Dean but he’s got a massive frame for his age and already has started to get varsity playing time. The linebacker has 13 tackles in two games so keep an eye out for him in the future.
East Noble TE Alex Brennan Alex Brennan 6'0" | 175 lbs | TE East Noble | 2025 State IN (6’ and 175lbs) @brennanalex_
There had to be an early projection for Brennan’s position so it was at tight end. However, there is so much time for him to continue to grow and add skills, that he very well could end up as a linebacker. The development for him over the next three years will dictate where he ends up, but like some others on this list, his final position might change over the course of time.
