Grass Lake Week 1
Grass Lake is heading into the week following a tough loss to Tecumseh last week to start their season. They battled and fought hard but they fell just short. They’re hoping with another week of practice under their belt they can bounce back and beat Reading.
Reading Week 1
Reading is coming off of a win from last week that wasn’t much of a competition. Reading put a beatdown on Pittsford 46-0. Reading got up early and poured it on. They were fast and physical and hit Pittsford early and often. They’re hoping to repeat that performance while kicking off their home field tonight.
Grass Lake X-Factors
Grass Lake is going to need Blake Stark to step up. He was up and down last week and eventually cost them the game with a costly turnover. He has the ability and size but he will need to step up and stay consistent. He was streaky last week but when he got hot, he was fantastic.
Andrew Stockton is going to get the lion’s share of carries and he was fine last week. The 5’9″ 175 lbs junior can take a big workload. He showed last week he has the ability to make guys miss and run them over when he needs to. He’s light on the feet and is good out of the backfield. If he has a big week, Grass Lake could pull off the upset.
Reading X-Factors
Colton Bassage is going to have to step up for Reading to win again this week. The junior quarterback had a great week last week and is hoping to double the efforts. He was delivering the ball on a strike almost every time he dropped back. He’s still developing and working on finding consistency.
Sam Strine is going to play both ways, but his biggest task is on defense. The 6’0″ 180 lbs senior is a very raw, but good athlete. He’s the signal-caller for the defense and is going to have to slow down both Stark and Stockton if Reading expects to win, Strine and crew on defense are going to need to build a stone wall.
Weather and Prediction
The weather at kick-off is going to be mild. Mid 70’s, cloudy, and no wind. Reading is going to be wild tonight as the fans will be in the stadium for the first time in 2 years. Their boys are coming off of a win and looking to repeat. The energy and home-field advantage will be too much for Grass Lake to overcome. I have Reading winning tonight 31-24
