Jacob Bonnett – Forest Hills Central – WR/CB/KR/PR – 5’11″ 165 lbs
Bonnett got to do something that most people never will experience in their life. Bonnett activated his best Devin Hester reimpression on Friday and was a massive problem in the kicking game. He returned 2 punts for TDs. They were from 50-yards out and 80-yards out. He is able to accelerate in a flash and make people miss in the open field. He was involved on offense as well and had a few key catches for the Rangers.
Jeremiah Bridgeman – Union – RB – 5’10″ 177lbs
Union is able to run the rock at an extremely high level and Friday Jeremiah went off. He carried the ball 23 times and was averaging just over 10-yards a carry. He finished the night with 289 rushing yards along with 3 TDs. He is fast, he accelerates in a flash, and has great contact balance that was allowing him to bounce off defenders and keep churning his legs for more yards.
John Passinault – Catholic Central – QB – 6’0″ 175 lbs
Passinault got thrown into action due to an injury to their starting quarterback and he put on a show. So much so, that there might be a QB controversy in the coming weeks. In his first game at QB he went 15-20 and threw for 230-yards. He had a total of 5 TDs as he guided the Shamrocks to a 47-7 win. I’m unsure how long the injury is supposed to keep the starter out but I’d like to see Passinault get another shot. Was it a fluke or is this kid legit? If we get another week of him starting, we could find out the answer to that question.
Elliot Zainea – West Catholic – RB – 5’11″ 165 lbs
On a night where everything felt like it went right for West Catholic, Zainea got some work and he showed what he’s able to do. He rushed for 209-yards and then had 2 scores while doing so. He looked great and he was a great relief when they needed him. Elliot was fantastic and decisive with his cuts. He knew where he wanted to go and was making those cuts without hesitation. It was a great performance from a player who typically doesn’t get the amount of work he did.
Timmy Kloska Timmy Kloska 6'0" | 220 lbs | RB Grand Rapids West Catholic | 2023 State MI – West Catholic – RB – 6’0″ 205 lbs
Kloska was the primary runner for West Catholic as he is every week and he had a massive game in his own right. He carried the ball 20 times and finished the night with 220 rushing yards. Between Zainea and Kloska they had well over 400 rushing yards on the evening. They both looked fantastic and explosive. I’m sure the line blowing the defenders off the ball helped a ton, but both RBs passed the eye test on what they needed to do.
