<span style="font-weight: 400;">The Miami Valley League had some intriguing matchups this weekend. Thursday night lights featured two matchups with playoff positioning on the line. The Primetime game had the Sydney Yellow Jackets(2-3) travel to face the Troy Trojans(3-2) i</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">n the aftermath of two solid days of rain, the field at Troy Memorial Stadium quickly turned into a mud pit as both teams struggled to move the ball through the air. Troy was able to capitalize on a few</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> early turnovers and take a 10-0 lead which it never relinquished. The final score was Troy 23, Sydney 6. For Troy, it was </span><a style="font-size: 1rem; background-color: #edeef0;" href="https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/nick-kawecki/aYVSoGhREeqAzqREozo6lw/default.htm">Nick Kawecki</a> <b style="font-size: 1rem;">5’10 195 lbs. ℅ 23</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Who led the Trojan rushing attack with 85 yards on 17 carries. (average of 5.0 yards per carry). However, the player that is starting to turn heads is </span><b style="font-size: 1rem;">℅ 24 RB Jahari Ward. At 5’10 200 lbs</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">, Ward has decent size and strength to break arm tackles routinely. Defensively for Troy, </span><b style="font-size: 1rem;">J.J. McCoy 6’1 215 LB ℅ 22</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> was all over the field and had multiple tackles leading a defense that has renewed spirit since giving up 28 points to Piqua, The Trojan defense has been tough to move the ball against. Only giving up 3 touchdowns in the last two games. </span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Sidney showed a lot of toughness as a team but wasn't able to overcome 4 turnovers( 2 in the first quarter) as Troy prevailed 23-6. </span><b>E.J. Davis 5’11 195 lbs. ℅ 22 </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">converted to Quarterback and played a decent game at the position. </span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">The other Thursday night game featured the Tipp City Red Devils visiting the Xenia Buccaneers. This game started off with a Safety by Tipp City. Midway through the first quarter, Tipp </span><b>QB</b><b style="font-size: 1rem;"> Liam Poronsky 5’11 178 lbs. ℅ 23</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">connected with </span><b style="font-size: 1rem;">Jason Rindler </b><b style="font-size: 1rem;">WR 6’3 189 lbs. ℅ 22</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> on a 23-yard touchdown pass. This would prove to be the game-winner as Tipp City would roll on to victory 30-0. Xenia just couldn’t put together any offensive momentum and failed to find the endzone. Even though the Buccaneers couldn’t manage to put the ball in the endzone, </span><b style="font-size: 1rem;">Tremmel Wright a ℅ 23 WR </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">was able to haul in 8 catches for 96 yards. </span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Moving onto Friday Night action in the Miami Valley League. The </span><b>Piqua Indians </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">hosted the </span><b>Fairborn Skyhawks</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> in what would turn out to be an absolute massacre. Piqua would score 35 unanswered points to start the first quarter.</span><b> Jasiah Medley RB/Saf ℅ 22</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> would get the party started by going 59 yards to the endzone. Another</span><b> ℅ 22 RB/LB Tanner Kemp</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> would get the next score from 2 yards out. After a Skyhawk punt, </span><b>Cory Miller ℅ 22 WR</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> would catch a Deep Ball on the seam for a 35-yard touchdown. After another Medley touchdown, the final drive of the first quarter would produce yet another explosive touchdown pass.</span><b> Giovanni Barron ℅ 22 WR</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> would take a Post route 66 yards for a score. The starters would then giveaway to the Junior Varsity but the points continued to pile up. The final score was Piqua 77 and Fairborn 0. </span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">In a Nailbiter, Vandalia Butler would get a late touchdown pass from</span><b> Luke Seibert QB 6’1 185 lbs.</b> <b>℅ 24 </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">to </span><b>Luke Mitchell WR 6’1 180 lbs. ℅ 22 </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">for 35 yards late in the 4th quarter. The Aviators would kick a field goal as time expired to pick up the win. The Final Score Vandalia Butler Aviators 17 Stebbins Indians 14. The win moves the Aviators to 3-3 overall and 3-2 in the MVL. </span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">To round out the MVL action Friday Night, Greenville prevailed over West Carrollton in what was somewhat of a surprise(to me) West Carrollton kept the game close before ultimately failing to score late in the fourth quarter. </span><b>Cedric Anthony ℅ 22 WR/DB </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">had a 5 catch 109 yard and 1 touchdown performance, breaking a two-game slide with zero catches. For Greenville,</span><b> ℅ 22 QB Hayden Bush</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> turned in a decent game registering 8 completions for 148 yards and 2 touchdowns. </span>
