With the release of the updated WA 2023 Rankings, here's a breakdown of prospects rising up the rankings. [player_tooltip player_id="155549" first="Cooper" last="Jensen"], TE, Glacier Peak The big 6’5” 210 lb. TE out of Glacier Peak continues to rise up rankings and recruiting boards after pulling in two more Power 5 offers over the summer from Arizona and Tennessee. Colleges love his length in combination with his growth potential to add weight to his frame. Plus mobility and speed, he shows good change of direction and burst out of his breaks. He’s a strong technical route runner with great hands and ball judgement. Look for him to continue to pull major D1 offers as he develops. https://twitter.com/CooperJensen17/status/1415024268946022400?s=20 [player_tooltip player_id="155580" first="David" last="Wells"], WR, Lakes Wells is finally receiving the attention he deserves after picking up offers from Portland State and FAU over the summer. He’s a well-rounded receiver with a good combination of athleticism, speed, and technique. He’s quick off the ball with a great drive phase to break cushion and set up his route. He’s savvy in how he creates separation and shows great ball skills/judgement. He’s continued to grow and expect for his recruiting stock to continue to rise with a breakout junior year. https://twitter.com/_davidwells_/status/1409966641731932162?s=20 [player_tooltip player_id="155590" first="Khalil" last="Yarbo"], RB, Graham-Kapowson Yarbo is off to a strong start this season making the most of every carry averaging almost 13 yards per touch. He’s a downhill power runner with a strong build at 6’0” 210 lbs. He’s quick and decisive picking a running lane and shows good burst/acceleration through the hole. Great balance and leg drive as a ball carrier allows him to break tackles and absorb/run through contact. It’s a crowded backfield at Graham-Kapowsin with a lot of talent but a lot to like about Yarbo’s skillset. [player_tooltip player_id="87431" first="Micah" last="Balzarini"], QB, Puyallup Dual sport athlete with good size and length at 6’3” 190 lbs. He’s a strong and accurate passer with the ability to mix up velocities and hit his spots at all three levels. Shows good arm strength and zip at the short/intermediate depths with good touch on the deep ball. Possesses a compact over the top release to get the ball out quick and on time. Flashes a good ability to manipulate defenders with his eyes and shoulder movement to create open throwing lanes. Good potential for a young QB as he continues to develop. [player_tooltip player_id="202533" first="River" last="Lien"], QB, Glacier Peak Lien’s junior campaign is off to a great start leading Glacier Peak to a 3-0 record while putting up big points in every game. He’s shown good efficiency and decision making completing over 60% of his passes with a 125 QBR. He flashes great versatility and plus athleticism with his ability to extend the play with his legs and throw on the run to either direction. Good natural arm talent to be an accurate and precise passer all over the field and off different throwing platforms. Colleges will love his ability to create and improvise when protection breaks down. Huge upside with the potential to be one of the top QB’s in the state. [player_tooltip player_id="87413" first="Heath" last="Ozaeta"], OL, Mount Si Impressive physical skillset with ideal size and length for a major D1 OT at 6’6” 270 lbs. Exceptional athleticism and mobility at his size. Flashes great natural bend and flexibility in the knees out of his stance. Shows he can run and match lateral movement with his ability to be an effective second level and perimeter blocker. Great hand usage and placement, he’s quick to snap them into position and gets good extension on his punches. Plays with good leverage and balance, he’s strong at the contact point and rarely see him get outside his framework at the POA. Offered by Nevada in March and recently picked up a huge offer from Stanford. With his high ceiling he has the ability to pull in some elite level offers and be one of the top lineman in the state. https://twitter.com/HeathOzaeta/status/1437243547321704452?s=20 [player_tooltip player_id="202530" first="Zion" last="Jones"], DB, Puyallup Explosive playmaker in the secondary with great physical tools. Possesses the size/length colleges look for in a CB at 6’2” 170 lbs. He’s a gifted athlete with fluid hips and good top end speed to run sustain coverage all over the field. He’s smooth out of his transition with great burst to close and recovery speed. Plays the ball well in the air using his body control and coordination to effectively play the ball at the intersect point. Love his physical and competitive style of play. No offers yet but has major D1 ability and expect that to change as he’s able to showcase his skillet.
