There was a lot of great football played in week 1 last week in the Division 3 schools in Ohio. Here are five players from Division 3 who had a standout performance in week 1. RB/LB, [player_tooltip player_id="91600" first="Tommy" last="Bebie"], 6’1, 195, Rocky River [player_tooltip player_id="91600" first="Tommy" last="Bebie"] did it all on Friday night against Midview. On offense he rushed for 153 yards on 10 carries (15.3 ypc) and scored 3 TD and caught 3 passes for 53 yards (17.67 ypc). On defense, he made 10 tackles, a sack and a pass defensed as Rocky River won 56-24. He plays as a MLB. As a RB, he shows good burst through the hole, uses his good quickness and agility to evade LB while delivering a powerful stiff arm to break tackles from DB. On defense, he quickly keys and diagnoses the play, uses his very good play speed and range in pursuit as he plays sideline to sideline and shows good leverage and play strength in his upper and lower body as he brings down the RB with ease. DE, Connor Priesel, 6’2, 235, Holy Name The Senior pass rusher had an awesome game last week as he had 3 sacks and helped Holy Name shutout Padua 20-0. He lines up primarily as a 5T. Against the pass, he fires off the ball shooting his hands quickly with an excellent hand punch and placement as he stacks the OT at the point of attack and displays good play strength and physical toughness as he sheds the block. He uses his great motor in pursuit of the QB and finishes off with a sack or hurry. Against the run, he beats the OT to the inside with his very good quickness, uses his very good instincts to take the correct angle in pursuit and uses his very good leverage and form tackling ability to bring down the RB with force. QB, Maysun Klimak, 5’10, 180, Streetsboro The Senior signal caller had a great game through the air and on the ground in week 1. He completed 7 of 8 passes for 124 yards and 2 TD while rushing for 191 yards on 15 carries (12.7 ypc) and 2 TD as Streetsboro won big over Girard 70-35. He reads the entire field, quickly locates the open receiver, releases the ball quickly and delivers the ball to a spot where only the receiver can make the catch. A dual threat at the QB position, he uses his excellent athletic ability and burst on zone reads to explode into the secondary while showing excellent play speed as he possesses the ability to outrun all defenders for a long TD. When the opportunity presents itself, he also displays great heart as play strength as he lowers his shoulder and runs over a larger DB as he picks up a few extra yards. LB, Ryan Papesh, Aurora The 5’11 Senior had a very good game last week against as he made 12 tackles and a sack in Aurora’s 63-21 victory over Euclid. He plays as an OLB. Against the run, he keeps his eyes on the ball constantly as he doesn’t get fooled by play fakes, uses his very good closing speed, leverage and play strength to get to the ball carrier and delivers a big hit bringing down the RB with ease. Against the pass, he reads the QB while keeping his eyes on what is going on around him in his zone, uses his very good hand use to shed the block and shows a very good motor motor in pursuit while delivering a punishing hit to the QB bringing him down for the sack. RB, [player_tooltip player_id="127309" first="George" last="Linberger"], 5’11, 210 St. Vincent-St. Mary The Senior RB played well against Wadsworth as he rushed for 135 yards on 25 carries (5.4 ypc) and 2 TD as they defeated Wadsworth 21-14. He displays good vision and decision making as he finds the open hole quickly. He shows excellent power and contact balance as he sends DB flying upon contact and can break tackles from LB with ease. He possesses good play speed as he shows the ability to outrun ILB for big gains. He shows very good competitive toughness in the red zone running over multiple DB at the goal line for a TD.
