In Week 1, wide receivers and tight ends enjoyed great success. There were big games from the state’s top receivers, with many of them leading their teams to crucial wins to start the season. Today, we will look at four wide outs and one tight end who were immense for their teams last Friday. All five will be looking to pick up where they left off when they hit the field this week. These five prospects have set the bar high for the remainder of the season.

The combination of [player_tooltip player_id="98101" first="Rory" last="Heltsley"] and elite quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="39047" first="Brady" last="Allen"] is going to be a nightmare for opposing defenses all season long. In Week 1, the quarterback and receiver showed the tremendous chemistry that they have, when Heltsley caught 11 passes for 219 yards. Heltsley posted almost 20 yards per catch against the Columbus North defense in Gibson Southern’s victory. Heltsley also found the end zone on four separate occasions. "Allen to Heltsley" is a phrase that fans in Indiana should get used to hearing a lot throughout this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="175710" first="Brody" last="Glenn"] made some enormous plays down the stretch, as Fort Wayne Bishop Luers picked up an early statement road win at Carroll. Glenn reeled-in nine receptions for 166 yards. He averaged a very impressive 18.4 yards per catch against a tough Carroll defense. Glenn had a crucial touchdown for the Knights as they came from behind to pick up a vital victory. Glenn has become a trusted receiver for star quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="98092" first="Carson" last="Clark"]. The duo of Glenn and Clark will be instrumental to Bishop Luers’ chances of making a return trip to Lucas Oil Stadium this November.
[player_tooltip player_id="97823" first="Cael" last="Vanderbush"], 6’6, 200 pounds, Plainfield, Senior
Last Friday, [player_tooltip player_id="97823" first="Cael" last="Vanderbush"] demonstrated exactly why he is regarded as one of the state’s top tight end prospects. Plainfield knocked off Greenfield-Central on the road and Vanderbush put up video game numbers. He had three receptions, but on those three catches, he netted 128 yards. The 42.7 yards per catch average that he put up is absolutely ridiculous. Vanderbush can add a potential play of the year candidate to his highlight tape in the form of his 94-yard touchdown reception.
[player_tooltip player_id="107080" first="Jaron" last="Tibbs"], 6’4, 190 pounds, Indianapolis Cathedral, Junior
The Cathedral Fighting Irish might have made the biggest statement in Indiana in Week 1 when they defeated Westfield on the road. [player_tooltip player_id="107080" first="Jaron" last="Tibbs"] was able to put a lot of pressure on the Shamrocks’ defensive backfield. He had nine catches and he put up 109 yards. Tibbs had a very impressive average of 18.2 yards per reception last Friday. Tibbs had the play of the game when he hauled-in a 71-yard catch.
[player_tooltip player_id="98005" first="Jordan" last="Turner"], 6’1, 180 pounds, Fort Wayne Northside, Senior
Fort Wayne Northside fell just short in a very close game in the season opener against Snider. In spite of coming up on the wrong end of the result, [player_tooltip player_id="98005" first="Jordan" last="Turner"] still managed to turn in a huge performance for the Legends. He made four catches totaling 102 yards. Turner had a remarkable 25.5 yards per catch against Snider. He came up with a big touchdown for Northside. Throughout the game, [player_tooltip player_id="98005" first="Jordan" last="Turner"] consistently stepped up when his team needed him to make a big play.
