Players to watch
Ty French, OLB Spring Lake – Utilized often as an edge rusher, French is a smart linebacker who is a great run-stuffer. There are multiple instances on French’s tape where you can tell by his first step he knows exactly what the opposing team is going to do. Whether that be an outside run where he KNOWS he’s the read man or an inside run that he can easily stuff up. French is surely going to have quite the season with the Lakers.
Tim Allen, DE Coopersville – At 6’3 225, Allen brings the BOOM on defense. Allen bullies linemen, often shoving them aside before delivering a blow to the ball carrier. With impressive tape against some great linemen, Allen’s sheer power and aggressiveness will have opposing offensive coordinators waking up in a cold sweat.
Ryan Shinabery, DE Unity Christian – With 5 sacks and 47 tackles in a shortened 2020, Shinaberry mixes power and finesse to consistently win blocks. He’s your ideal defensive end, with great leverage and pad level, with exceptional wrap-up tackling. Unity Christian is always a very well-coached team and Shinabery is going to perform very well in a scheme that compliments his play.
Joseph Debski, FS West Catholic – Debski isn’t a name that’s known by many, but he’s about to be. During his sophomore campaign, he already showed great cover ability against some high-powered passing offenses. Knowing that he’s put in plenty of work during the offseason, Debski is going to be an absolute game-changer on the defensive side of the ball against many offenses that love to pass.
Isiah Emerson, DB Hamilton – A great DB with blazing speed, Emerson is looking to lock down the Hamilton secondary this fall. Emerson has exceptional feet and always knows what exactly his job is and completes it with a ferocity rarely seen with DB’s. His 5’8, 155lb frame doesn’t stop him from being a speeding bullet to a ball carrier or getting physical with a receiver when he has to. In a great passing league, Emerson is still going to have plenty to brag about come November.
