Some of the players highlighted have plenty of upside, but due to positional depth in the state, they were ranked lower. It’s not a knock on them at all, there’s plenty of talent in this group. The player ranking is overall first, with their position rank in parenthesis.
Lawrenceburg QB Garrett Yoon Garrett Yoon 6'0" | 180 lbs | QB Lawrenceburg | 2022 State IN (6’ and 180lbs) @GarrettYoon2
Current: #61 (6)
I got a chance to see Yoon over the summer at the Rise and Fire camp, which peaked my interest as a prospect. When I asked who stood out from the coaches, Yoon was typically a name that came out of their mouths. Even though he’s on the smaller side for a quarterback, Yoon uses his arm strength to overcome the lack of size. He’s great a making the correct zone reads, showing off his running ability when the end crashes too far. Yoon shows good accuracy on the move, especially inside 20 yards. Very impressed with his film and he should get more attention this fall.
Northview ATH LB/TE Braxton Sampson Braxton Sampson 6'2" | 200 lbs | TE Northview | 2022 State IN (6’2” and 200lbs)
Current #36 (2)
It’s not always easy to project what a high school player will turn out, so there were more than a few athletes in the 2022 updated rankings compared with Sampson being one of them. He shows good hands on both sides, and is a mismatch for linebackers due to his very solid speed. If Sampson gains 10-15 pounds, he’ll stay at at tight end, however, if it’s closer to 30-40 pounds, moving to middle linebacker is the most likely move. Sampson uses his knowledge of offense to show very good read and react skills. A solid tackler as well, there’s a whole lot to like about the future prospects with the athlete. How he develops this fall will definitely help with what position he projects to.
Top 15 Castle FS Evan Reff Evan Reff 6'0" | 185 lbs | DB Castle | 2022 State IN (6’ and 185lbs) @evanreff
Current #150 (16)
Playing a significant role for one of the best teams is the state is always going to get eyes to you and that’s the case with Reff. He’s got very solid size for a free safety, and there’s room to add on good weight while still keeping his athleticism. Reff is not the fastest player, but goes a great job creating good depth in coverage situations. When he comes up for run support, Reff more often than not takes the proper angle to make the play. At this point, he’s a bit raw but there’s plenty of talent. A big time special teams contributor, Reff should start getting some more attention with a big senior year.
Top 10 Lawrenceburg WR Dahya Patel Dahya Patel 6'2" | 185 lbs | WR Lawrenceburg | 2022 State IN (6’2” and 185lbs) @Dahya_Patel88
Current #86 (11)
A very underrated receiver, Patel has a very good frame, long arms and legs, with developing hands. He’s got very solid speed, enough to be a factor for defenses to be aware of him popping the top off. Patel is does well after the catch, but the most impressive part of his game is the route running. He does a great job of creating space for himself, then turns upfield to gain extra yardage. Patel also blocks well on run plays, using his long arms to lock onto defensive backs to take them out of the play. With Yoon, they make a formidable pair in Lawrenceburg’s passing game.
Top 5 Brownsburg ATH (OL/DT) Denys Miroshnyk Denys Miroshnyk 6'4" | 275 lbs | ATH Brownsburg | 2022 State IN (6’4”and 275lbs) @DhzusVictor
Current #48 (8)
With his size, Miroshnyk can end up on either side of the ball. As an interior offensive lineman, he’s got an extremely quick first step, with great tenacity for the position. A better run blocker at the moment, Miroshnyk will need to clean up some aspects of his pass protection. Although he could be a very good guard, I really like what he offers as a defensive tackle. The first step comes into play on this side as well, the quickness and strength from the middle of the defensive line disrupts plenty of plays. Miroshnyk has great hands, disengages well and finishes tackles. The jumbo athlete is in line for a big senior year and already holds a Northwood offer.
Top 10 Bishop Luers ATH (WR/DB) Antwian Lake (6’ and 165lbs) @AntwianLake
Current #117 (19)
Another guy that could shoot up the rankings is Lake and for good reason. Right now he’s another player who could end up on either side of the ball, this fall will do a long ways to which side he could end up on. On offense, Lake has good top-end speed, and although he’s not the tallest or thickest Eric ever, he’s high points the ball extremely well. The hands translate to the other side of the ball as does the speed. Lake recovers very well and when he arrives uses his hands to break up passes. He’s lower on the rankings due to positional projection, but if he gets more big time defensive plays this fall, Lake will be a wanted man as a corner.
