Continue ReadingThis article was based on a tweet I put out a few weeks ago, looking for under-the-radar prospects from around the country. I’m still working through all the film I was sent, but I did want to give a few talented prospects from that tweet some recognition. Here are my sleepers of the week!
ATH: Ahmari Bolden, 6’1″,190, Thompson, AL, Sr
Bolden plays for the best program in the state of Alabama and excelled on both sides of the ball. As a tailback, he’s a blazer with outstanding contact balance. He’s patient behind the line, letting blocks set up, and will run through arm tackle attempts. As a cornerback, he plays with refined technique and will run to the near hip & play through a wideouts hands if he’s trailing. He high points the football when it’s in the air and can roll up & play man in the slot when need be.
DB: Giuseppe Sessi, 5’11”, 180, Reagan, TX, Jr
A hard-hitting thumper who can scoot on top of it all. Sessi shows great instincts and is a natural at reading routes on the fly. On tape, he’s comfortable tackling in space and is constantly looking for some form of contact. Sessi takes great angles to the football and won’t give up on a play until the whistle is blown. His hard-nosed mentality and ability to tackle inside the box make him an ideal strong safety prospect at the next level.
DB: Christon Curtis, 6’1″, 165, Central, AL, Sr
A rangy cornerback prospect with outstanding ball skills. Curtis is comfortable playing out of both a shuffle and backpedal, all while keeping his breaks within the framework of his body. He effectively reads the quarterback’s body language before jumping a route. If he gets the ball in his hands, watch out because this kid is dangerous & has the ability to take it to the house. His length and ball skills make him a really interesting corner in the 2022 class.
QB: Connor Clark, 6’6″, 215, Cardinal Gibbons, NC, Jr
This young man has an absolute rifle of an arm and has shown excellent timing on all three levels. Clark knows when to get outside the pocket and has displayed a quick operation time. He can easily challenge safeties vertically downfield and will force you to lock onto your man when he gets outside the tackle box. Connor is calm within the pocket and will deliver a rope in stride to his target.
LB: Tyre Smith, 6′, 205, Riverview, FL, Sr
A twitchy outside linebacker prospect that can close ground in an instant. Smith shows some serious pop to his tackles, oftentimes jolting ball carriers backward. He’s comfortable tackling in space and is a well-versed blitzer between the tackles. Tyre is comfortable in zone coverage and can run with vertical concepts up the seam. His acceleration and body control are hard to find in a linebacker prospect.
QB: Bekkem Kritza, 6’4″, 185, Fairview, CO, Fr
This young man has the chance to be special. His size, mechanics, arm strength, and anticipation, among other things, are beyond his years. Kritza is a polished pocket passer that can let it rip downfield. He’s relaxed, throwing off-platform, and shows a lighting quick release. The velocity is already there, as is the ability to fit the football into tight windows. To me, he could end up being one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2025 class.
