Seaholm controlled the pace, and therefore the game during the 1st quarter. They executed their veer offense perfectly and chewed a significant amount of clock. During the second quarter, Byron Center woke up, stepped on the gas, and didn’t stop until the game was over. With quick scores from RB Trever Walter and QB Hunter Schichtel (Pictured), Byron center had the game tied 14-14 at the half.
Second Half
The second half showcased some fireworks as both teams combined for 6 2nd-half touchdowns. Jack Trinch continued to play well, being a force on all 3 phases of the ball. In addition, Maples SO QB Colton Kinnie turned it on late throwing a 62-yard TD to SO WR Kyle Robbins. Turnovers became one of the biggest stories of the game as Seaholm coughed up the football too many times. On Byron Center’s end, Blake Ottow was the biggest surprise for the bulldogs as the sophomore lived in the Seaholm backfield posting 4 TFL’s. During this time, QB Hunter Schichtel impressed, running all over the Maples D while slinging an incredible TD pass to WR Brady Breit who made an even more incredible grab.
