Delays from the pandemic have negated chances for some of the state’s top talent to actually get on the field.
Over the next two weeks, four of those names from up and down the South Carolina coast line should get their opportunity. From a recent Notre Dame commitment to another player ready to head to Clemson to a pair of running backs just waiting for the right college shot, we’re expecting highlights in droves.

Sneed has been a bit snake-bit by games, as the Seahawks dropped three regular-season games in 2020 and have already had two canceled this fall. Sneed, though, impresses nearly every time out because of his skill sets on both sides of the ball. The future Irish linebacker will likely chew up tackles and other defensive stats. Quarantine robbed Myrtle Beach of its game at Class 3A power Dillon. And if things go well, we’re a little over a week away from seeing Randall do his thing. When the Seahawks head to Oceanside Collegiate on Sept. 10, Randall will be the guy to watch amid a field full of stars.

When West Ashley coach Donnie Kiefer said he wants to do what gives him the best chance to win, that means putting the ball in Porter’s hands. When the Wildcats open the 2021 season at Goose Creek on Friday, expect plenty of that, even if the senior tailback’s touches may not quite look like they will toward the end of the season. Goose Creek is big and strong, and Porter will have to earn his yards.

Alston’s highlight-reel resume doesn’t yet include a single carry as an upperclassman. That changes on Friday at Ashley Ridge, where Stratford will be looking to build upon what has been a dynamic career so far for Alston. The junior will be beginning his third year as a full-time starter, something that him one of the most experienced backs in the state for the Class of 2023.
