Continue ReadingThe Flowery Branch Falcon’s not only had a strong season in 2020, but they are expected to compete well within the 4A division of football next season. Last season, they finished with an overall 9-3 record, with their first loss on the season coming in week 1 against St. Pius X Catholic, as they lost 38-28. Following this, they went on a 3 game winning streak before sustaining their second loss to Jefferson High School. After this 40-10 loss, the Falcons went on a huge winning streak before losing their final game of the season in the 2nd round of the playoffs against Marist. Against Marist, they fell short of expectations as they lost 24-0, but we fully expect them to be back and competitive next season.
Myles Ivey- RB
Last year was Ivey’s sophomore season, and we expect him to enter into his Junior year with a head full of steam. Last year, when carrying the rock, he showed the has quick feet, and is confident as he runs through the hole. When doing so, he runs very hard, and despite having a bit of a smaller frame, he runs with decent power and drive in his lower body. With this, Ivey also plays with decent vision, and he has good balance, which certainly helps due to his size. When running the ball, he shows that he has a great jump cut, and that he runs with good burst and explosion. His short area quickness and speed results in short gains for his team, and next season, he will likely continue to be a valuable asset for his team as he further develops in his overall ability, and frame.
David Renard David Renard 6'1" | 165 lbs | QB Flowery Branch | 2022 State GA – QB
Entering into his senior year, Renard is a bit of a raw prospect, but he shows flashes of talent and ability that can help get his team to the playoffs. When evaluating his film, he reveals that he has decent placement, but has very choppy feet and inconsistent mechanics. In the pocket, he can be a bit hoppy, but oftentimes, his athleticism and speed saves him when he takes off down the field and makes plays with his legs, which also helps to keep defenses off balance. When making throws outside of the pocket, he is decently mobile, but needs to square his shoulders better when making passes. Regardless, Renard puts good velocity on the ball, and throws with good touch when needed as he uses his vision to help him find the open receiver. Next season, not only do we want to see him improve in his mechanics, but we want to see him get the ball out quicker. This will help him take his game to the next level.
Jaheim Hayes- DB
Hayes not only has a decent frame for his age, but he allows it to help him play very physically. This can be seen in the way he is unafraid to make tackles, and take good angles to bring opposing players down on initial contact. With this, when in coverage, he shows that he is able to stick with the receiver well and make plays on the ball. Oftentimes, this results in pass break ups, as well as turnovers. Hayes also has decent feet, and is good out of his breaks. This is a huge factor in his game when paired with his great awareness of the game at hand. As the season approaches, we fully expect him to continue to be a stable force for his team’s defense.
Cameron Haynes- LB
When playing the LB position, Haynes plays with a very disruptive playing style, causing runs to be blown up, and plays to be made within the box. He plays with a very strong base, and makes tackles in pursuit and along the sideline very consistently, while also showing that he has a burst of speed that helps him to get to the ball carrier. Haynes also plays with decent leverage as he makes tackles, but we would like more consistent bend in his game as a whole. At times, he can be stiff but makes up for this with his hustle. As he takes angles to make tackles, he does a good job as he dips and rips, but we want to see more hand and arm use out of him. Overall, Haynes is a very physical LB for his age, and next year, we expect him to continue to step up for his team.
