That’s not easy in a standard recruiting class, and with how talented the top end of this class is and how deep it is, it makes it very hard for athletes to make significant jumps in the rankings. However, we do have a strong collection of athletes who were able to make those jumps. In today’s look through the rankings I want to highlight those athletes that made some of the largest jump ups in the rankings. We will dive into the film to see what it was that moved them up. Let’s get it started!
Evan Oberg Evan Oberg 6'4" | 255 lbs | OL DeForest | 2022 State WI , OL- DeForest
The majority of the athletes in this article experienced a large jump in the rankings update because they didn’t play their junior seasons until the spring after our previous rankings update. Now that they have recent film you see them jump up to a position that better represents their talents. That’s the case with Evan. DeForest was one of the spring’s top teams and Oberg had a large role on the team. The 6’4″ 255 lbs two way athlete made a big jump from his sophomore tape. Evan’s junior film shows an athletically gifted big man that is very impactful as a pulling guard. His range and strength allows him to deliver big blocks after he pulls down the line to either kick out DTs or lead through. That athleticism and strength shine on defense as well as he is able to hold the line, shed blocks, split doubles, and pursue ball carriers all over the trenches. I believe Evan’s best position is OL, but he has the potential to play either side of the ball at the next level. Evan’s Junior Season
Ross Rivord Ross Rivord 6'3" | 215 lbs | DL Superior | 2022 State WI , DL- Superior
Superior was another spring season participant leading to the rise of Ross’ stock. The 6’3″ 215 lbs DE/ edge rusher took advantage of finally getting to play as he showed off all that he has to offer. The high motored DE used that motor and range to pursue plays from behind, and to continuously battle to the whistle. His initial burst takes full advantage any time he is left unblocked and he has shown decent hands to disengage with blocks. Rivord is another two way playmaker as he also plays TE on offense, but I believe his future as a college athlete will be on the defensive side of the ball. Ross’ Junior Season
JT Seagreaves JT Seagreaves 6'6" | 220 lbs | TE Monroe | 2022 State WI , TE- Monroe
Our next big riser is the Wisconsin Badgers TE commit out of Monroe High School. JT was one of the players lucky enough to get to play this past fall. However, due to the offensive gameplan Seagreaves wasn’t able to really shine with a huge workload. The 6’6″ 220 lbs height, weight, speed specimen only has 9 career receptions, but what has caused the rise is the freakish athletic traits for his size. Instead of the game film it was his performance at the Prep Redzone Wisconsin Showcase this spring that caught our eyes. It was there that he posted an impressive 4.5 40 yard dash and then dominated in the 1 on 1 portion showing off what he could become. Then he continued his impressive camp tour as he went to Madison for one of their camps where he came away with the offer. After seeing what he did live it was clear he was going to be making a huge jump in the rankings. JT’s Junior Season
Owen Pawlikowski Owen Pawlikowski 6'3" | 195 lbs | WR Kimberly | 2022 State WI , WR- Kimberly
Another spring competitor and major riser comes from the Kimberly Papermakers. Owen turned the spring season into his personal breakout party. The All Conference and All Region selection showed off about as complete of a game as you can at the receiver position. He proved he can make plays from the slot or out wide. He can win with route running or with his ability to box out defenders. He showed that he is difficult to contain in the open field and a very difficult tackle for DBs due to his 6’3″ 195 lbs frame, and he repeatedly proved that he has the play speed to stretch the field. His dominant spring season has springboarded him up our rankings and landed him in the top 5 of our WR rankings, and earned him several D2 offers. Pawlikowski is going to be a kid to watch this fall as Kimberly looks to repeat this spring’s successful 6-1 run. Owen’s Junior Season
Daniel Martens Daniel Martens 5'11" | 190 lbs | DB Franklin | 2022 State WI , DB- Franklin
Daniel was another athlete that was lucky enough to play this past fall. That earned him a solid spot in the rankings, but he was able to move himself even further up the list with his impressive performance at the Prep Redzone Wisconsin Showcase in late May. Daniel is a bit of a tweener when it comes to position as he plays some OLB and some safety. At the Showcase he worked out with the DB group and let his 4.5 play speed shine as he was able to turn and run with all the receivers and make impressive plays on the ball. When you pair the in person performance with the film you see how he has come to earn the impressive list of offers he has piled up this summer. His rise in our rankings update is well deserved. Max Rader Max Rader 6'6" | 250 lbs | OL Green Bay Notre Dame | 2022 State WI , OL- Green Bay Notre Dame
There is really one reason why Rader saw the massive jump that he saw. That was a position change that perfectly highlighted his strengths. He went from TE as a sophomore to OL as a junior. It also made him go from a D2 prospect to an NDSU commit in less than a year. The 6’6″ 250 lbs stud is a very athletically gifted OT. You see the athleticism that had him at TE really shine as he goes up against DL and LBs in the run game. His range and impressive strength allow him to have a very well rounded skill set after just one season of playing on the offensive line. I can’t wait to see what he does in his final season of high school ball. I love when a kid is open to a position change that allows him to let his skill set shine even more than the previous position did. Check out his dominant spring as an OL. Max’s Junior Season
Troy Bounting Troy Bounting 5'11" | 175 lbs | ATH Hudson | 2022 State WI , ATH- Hudson
Troy is the beneficiary of both impressive film and impressive in person testing. Bounting and Hudson played this past fall, and was able to carve out a solid role on the offense despite having impressive senior playmakers getting more of the workload. Then this past spring Bounting was in attendance at the Prep Redzone Minnesota Showcase where he blew us away with his testing results where he posted some of the best jumps and 40 times of the event. He also showed how sharp of a route runner he was in the 1 on 1 battles. This summer he continued the impressive showings and started piling up multiple D2 offers. Troy is headed for a big season, and potentially another jump in the rankings. He is definitely one of the best athletes in the state’s senior class and should have a big year at WR and RB for Hudson. Troy’s Junior Season
Quentin Keene Quentin Keene 6'3" | 205 lbs | QB Waunakee | 2022 State WI , QB- Waunakee
Our biggest stock riser at the QB position is the signal caller out of Waunakee HS. Quentin has the prototypical build at 6’3″ 205 lbs and the live arm to deliver the ball all over the field with accuracy and timing. The pocket passer’s film shows a player with the poise in the pocket that you need at the next level. As the pocket breaks down he doesn’t panic, and instead he does a good job maneuvering in the pocket to buy time and avoid the rush. I’m really impressed with how well Keene protects the ball as well. He didn’t lose a fumble, and only threw 3 INTs all season while completing nearly 80% of his passes. He also posted over 12 yards per completion, so it wasn’t like he was dinking and dunking down the field. He was able to protect the ball while being aggressive and attacking defenses. Check him out! Caleb Rinard Caleb Rinard 5'11" | 200 lbs | LB De Pere | 2022 State WI , LB- De Pere
Before the spring season began I did a film analysis of Caleb’s sophomore film. Looking back on that film compared to what he did this spring it looks like a totally different player. This spring Caleb demonstrated his aggressive, down hill play style. He also showed off the range to be able to make plays sideline to sideline from his ILB position. That range, and ability to cover RBs, was also on display at the Prep Redzone Minnesota Showcase this past spring. Caleb has a well balanced game, and if he takes another step from this spring then I expect him to catch the attention of the D2 schools in the surrounding states. Caleb’s stock is going to continue to point up. It also sounds like we may see Rinard carrying the ball on offense this year too. Something extra to keep an eye out for. Caleb’s Junior Season
