From offers to commitments and everything in between, we’ll have you covered. This week, we return to our usual schedule after not having a Recruiting Report last week. It’s been a pretty quiet two weeks in recruiting and last week, we didn’t have much news to discuss in terms of offers and commitments. However, we return this week with three commitments, a handful of offers and the top overall 2023 prospect announced his top eight schools. As always, you can follow us on Twitter to stay up to date from the moment an offer or commitment happens. <a href="https://twitter.com/PrepRedzoneOK" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>@PrepRedzoneOK</strong></a> <span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>THIS WEEK’S TOP STORIES</strong></span> Freeman To Air Force One of the bigger commitments came a little over a week ago as Heritage Hall standout [player_tooltip player_id="48668" first="Gavin" last="Freeman"] became the latest commitment to the Air Force Academy. Freeman joins Bartlesville offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="38682" first="Ridge" last="Brewington"] and Noble standout [player_tooltip player_id="111754" first="Trevor" last="Lorenz"] as Air Force commits. Freeman is without a doubt the highest ranked commit to Air Force right now. We’ve written plenty about Freeman since his breakout season in 2020. He was one of the top overall players in the state last season. And when it comes to his recruitment, it’s never made much sense to us. Freeman is one of the best players in Oklahoma today. Yes, he’s an undersized wide receiver. It doesn’t matter. We’ve made this comparison this summer a few times but look at Owasso 2023 wide receive [player_tooltip player_id="45651" first="Cole" last="Adams"]. The two are very similar in style, stature and everything else. Adams currently holds multiple P5 offers. Freeman had to scratch and claw for just a couple D1 offers. It doesn’t make much sense to us and it won’t surprise us at all in a few years when Freeman is tearing it up at the next level and more people wonder why he wasn’t recruited more coming out of Heritage Hall. <span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Malaska To Texas Tech</strong></span> Texas Tech earned another commitment from a standout 2022 athlete that plays on both sides of the ball. Bethany’s [player_tooltip player_id="101401" first="Jocelyn" last="Malaska"] announced his commitment to Texas Tech late last week. Malaska is being recruited to Lubbock to play defensive back. When we did our 2022 ranking update, we started to lean to Malaska being that defensive stopper at the cornerback position. Malaska joins Broken Arrow two-way star [player_tooltip player_id="38672" first="Maurion" last="Horn"] as commits to Texas Tech. Malaska announced his commitment by putting out this <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2g_kWLhlIA" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>VIDEO</strong></a>. We encourage everyone to take time to watch it as it’s a remarkable story and you’ll end up cheering for Malaska this fall and at the next level with Texas Tech. <span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Pfieffer To Houston Baptist</strong></span> One of the more underrated quarterbacks in Oklahoma’s 2022 class is Edmond Santa Fe’s [player_tooltip player_id="61144" first="Scott" last="Pfieffer"]. After somewhat of a slow start, Pfieffer had an excellent junior season and took that momentum into the offseason. Pfieffer was offered by Houston Baptist earlier this year and last week, he announced his commitment to HBU. Santa Fe has somewhat of a connection to HBU as they’re routinely recruiting some Santa Fe’s better players. Pfieffer is the second quarterback in the 2022 class to give a commitment. Top ranked QB [player_tooltip player_id="38671" first="Carson" last="May"] from Jones committed to Iowa earlier this month. With the transfer portal getting out of control when it comes to quarterbacks, the recruitment of a HS quarterback has become more difficult. Pfieffer has locked up his spot to play at the next level. <span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Top 2023 Prospect Announces Top Eight</strong></span> Last month, we released our <a href="https://prepredzone.com/oklahoma/rankings/2023-rankings/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>2023 Rankings</strong></a> and a new top prospect emerged as Bixby tight end [player_tooltip player_id="55156" first="Luke" last="Hasz"] took over the top spot at #1. Over the weekend, Hasz announced that he would be narrowing down his list to a top eight on Sunday. Before that narrowing could happen, Tennessee became the latest team to offer the standout Spartan. The Vols didn’t make the cut as Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU and Texas all made Hasz’s top eight. It’s been a wild offseason for the Bixby big man as this time last year, he hadn’t played football in several seasons. He joined the football team to play with his brother and has a breakout season. He’s had an even more impressive offseason as he’s been offered by schools all over the country. Earlier this summer, Hasz went on a little tour of some of the top schools on his list.
