The Raiders will look to get back to their 2019 form after a roller coaster season this past fall. They stumbled out of the gates, but ultimately finished above .500 with a 6-5 record. Their roaster is without a doubt headlined by Oklahoma State commit, [player_tooltip player_id="35560" first="Landon" last="Dean"]. But the Raiders have multiple impact players on their roaster that will be key for a successful season. They should once again be a competitive squad in the 3A ranks this year.
<strong>Collin McCartney</strong>, 6’3”, 200, QB, <em>Class of ‘22</em>
McCartney will be a huge reason for Frontenac’s success on offense this year. The lefty was a big-time playmaker during his junior season. He took home 1St Team All-CNC honors for his performance under center. McCartney doesn’t display sprinter speed, but he is a very mobile quarterback. He’s capable of making difficult throws on the run, and he excels at keeping plays alive. He has full confidence in his strong arm and places the ball where only his receivers can catch it. McCartney is also a sure tackler coming off the edge.
<strong>Lane Franklin</strong>, 6’3”, 260, OL/DL, <em>Class of ‘22</em>
Franklin is a lineman that recruiters need to keep an eye on this year. He possesses collegiate level size, and he can play on either side of the ball. At center, Franklin is consistent with his snaps and keeping his pad level low. He also displays good hand placement and the strength to put defensive linemen on their backs. At defensive tackle, he can fight through double teams and clog running lanes. Heading into his fourth year starting, Franklin will look to be an All-League player as a senior.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35586" first="Cruz" last="Blair"]</strong>, 6’1”, 235, OL/DL, <em>Class of ‘22</em>
Despite his success, Blair has to be one of the most overlooked prospects in the entire state. He’s consistently been one of the best defensive linemen in the 3A Division over the past few years, and he has his two All-State selections to back that up. Expect to see the same high level of play from this young man as a senior. Opposing coaches will have a difficult time game planning for him, Dean, Franklin, and McCartney this year.
<strong>Justice Compton</strong>, 6’2”, 185, LB, <em>Class of ‘22</em>
Compton will be another key defender returning for the Raiders on defense this fall. He will anchor the second level of the unit behind that talented front four. Compton was a 1st Team All-CNC linebacker in 2020, and he should be primed for another selection during the ’21 season. He is also a talented wrestler, placing 2nd at State this past season and finishing with a 32-8 record.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="122549" first="Mario" last="Menghini"]</strong>, 6’2”, 185, ATH, <em>Class of ‘23</em>
Menghini is arguably Frontenac’s most explosive player. He is a dangerous weapon for the Raiders that can take it to the house on any given play because of his 4.5 40 speed. As a sophomore, Menghini was recognized for his efforts by being an All-State Honorable Mention selection, and he was also a 1st Team All-CNC selection at running back. His recruitment should start to heat up with a strong junior campaign.
