With June basically wrapped up, let’s take a look at some notable commitments and offers for Michigan HS players. Since June is deemed as camp season and this month being a big one for official and unofficial visits, a ton of recruiting activity happened this month. In this article, I will highlight some of the noteworthy offers/commitments.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="162655" first="Cole" last="Cabana"] Earns 7 Offers </strong>
Quite possibly the best running back in the state of Michigan for the class of 2023, [player_tooltip player_id="162655" first="Cole" last="Cabana"] had a stellar month of June. After having a big sophomore season with 1,160 all-purpose yards, Cabana continued to impress coaches at camps with his track speed (runs a 4.43 40). His performances at these camps led to 7 total offers this month alone including West Virginia, Louisville, and Liberty. In total, he now has 13 offers and his offer count will continue to climb if he builds on his sophomore campaign and camp performances.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="30211" first="Tommy" last="McIntosh"] Commits to Wisconsin </strong>
One of the biggest commitments from Michigan this month came from Dewitt’s [player_tooltip player_id="30211" first="Tommy" last="McIntosh"]. Listed at 6’5, McIntosh garnered plenty of P5 attention and offers throughout his junior year. After doing official visits at Wake Forest, Indiana, Cincinnati, Iowa, and Wisconsin, he decided to shut down his recruitment and commit to Wisconsin. Given his size, it will be interesting to see whether Wisconsin will put him at the wide receiver or tight end position. But, one thing is for sure, Wisconsin is getting a guy who has all the physical attributes to be highly successful at the collegiate level.
<strong>Kansas Offers [player_tooltip player_id="30227" first="James" last="Livingston"] and Commits Days Later </strong>
Another Dexter HS prospect, [player_tooltip player_id="30227" first="James" last="Livingston"] is a 6’7 OL position who projects as a tackle at the next level. Having put on over 100 pounds during the span of two years, Livingston had quite a body transformation from his freshman year to now. This body transformation led to colleges beginning to put him on their radar during his junior season. His first offer came from Iowa State in November and more colleges pulled the trigger including Arizona State, Indiana, and Tulane. Last week, he visited Kansas after establishing a prior relationship with the staff that followed Lance Leipold from Buffalo after they offered him in February. These relationships were the main reason he committed to Kansas and I think he will have a good chance to contribute early.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="30165" first="Garrett" last="Masterson"] Finally Earns FBS Offers </strong>
Someone who I think is one of the more underrated OL prospect in a loaded 2022 class is [player_tooltip player_id="30165" first="Garrett" last="Masterson"]. Listed at 6’7 298, Masterson moves very well for his size and has plenty of potential at the position. Prior to June, he only had one D1 offer from Valparaiso University. His first FBS offer came last week with Western Michigan offering. Kent State and Liberty followed suit with both offering later on in the week. I am certain he will continue to gain more FBS offers and possibly some P5 offers if he has a big senior season.
