Alabama Evals: Class 2A Region 1 Top Players

Region 1 in Class 2A is filled with up and coming talent all across the board on the gridiron in Alabama. The players listed below come from Blacksher, Clarke County, Greene County, Leroy, Orange Beach, St Luke's Episcopal and Washington County High School.
Here are the top seven players to watch in 2021 from Class 2A Region 1.
<strong>Ron Johnson </strong>| 5-11 RB, OLB | Clarke County
Johnson put forth a stellar season in 2020 as he ran for 284 yards and nine touchdowns in nine games. Granted, the top two rushers in Region 1 were also from Clarke County. Going into 2021, Johnson could have a breakout year.
He is a great tailback that can take any handoff and turn it into a positive gain. Johnson excels at powering through defenders and fighting his way for extra yards.
<strong>Jammarian Johnson </strong>| 5-10 WR, SS | Clarke County
Johnson is a solid receiver that can get separation off the line of scrimmage and make an eye popping catch. He excels at running clean routes and also is great at blocking in both the run and pass schemes when he isn't being targeted for a pass.
On the outside, Johnson possesses great speed to burst by defenders and get open on a deep route. The incoming senior should have a stellar season in 2021.
<strong>Micah Jones </strong>| 6-0 QB, CB, WR | Leroy HS
Jones is one outstanding athlete that can excel at three different positions. From a receiver aspect, he has great size advantage over smaller defenders to go up and get 50/50 passes. But at quarterback, Jones has a strong arm and can make accurate reads before the snap to ensure the pass gets to an open receiver.
In 2021, Jones could be one of the best all around players in Region 1.
<strong>Braeden Collins </strong>| 5-7 MLB, FB | Leroy HS
Collins is a sensational linebacker that plays with a lot of poise. The incoming senior can get into the backfield in a flash and can drop into pass coverage and make quick tackles on opposing ball carriers.
<strong>Jacario Turner </strong>| 5-6 RB | Washington County
Turner is only 5'6", but has great speed for his size. The tailback can get past defenders on the outside for extra yards and big gains.
The incoming junior could take Region 1 by storm the next two seasons, depsite his smaller frame.
<strong>Jorwayne Robinson </strong>| 5-9 OLB, CB | Clarke County
Robinson had a phenomenal 2020 season finishing as the top tackler in Region 1. He had 64 tackles, five tackles for loss and two sacks in nine games.
The rising senior is set for another solid year in 2021. He is a terrific defensive player that can earn tackles from anywhere on the field.
<strong>TyNorris Newell </strong>| MLB, DT | Greene County
Newell had a great sophomore year in 2020.
At middle linebacker and defensive tackle, Newell is a force of nature on defense. He can drop into pass coverage and get tackles. On the line, he has great hands and quick feet to move past offensive linemen to get pressure into the backfield.
