There were prospects who saw their stock rise, while others unfortunately saw their stock fall. This was determined due to further evaluation of their film, as well as the success and failure of other players at camps. All of these factors contributed to further tape comparison among each of these players, in which we were able to present to you a more accurate version of our rankings, in which you can take a look at. Here, we have listed a few 2023 prospects who’s stock rose, and who we thought stood out the most.
Bo Hughely- OT (Langston Hughes)
This time around, Hughley has made a decent jump in the rankings, as he has seen his stock rise up to be the 9th best player in the 2023 class. He has proven that he is one of the more polished players in the state for his position, and the success that he helps pave in the running game for his team is also undeniable. This can be seen in the way he gets off of the ball, rolls his hips when making contact with defenders, and how he engages them with his hands. This can be a lot for defenders to deal with due to the fact that Hughley stands at a massive 6’7, 270 pounds. He is also mature in his base, and the way he can extend his arms upon contact to gain separation and space, leaving no room for holds, or for him to get caught off balance. Hughley is also a very strong prospect, and this is evident in the way he finishes blocks, and the power he is able to deliver when he makes contact with defenders. Any team that gets his commitment in the future will certainly be lucky.
Cayden Lee Cayden Lee 5'11" | 150 lbs | WR Hillgrove | 2023 State GA – WR (Hillgrove)
Not only have we picked up on the fact that Lee is more talented than meets the eye, but plenty of college programs have noticed as well. This has resulted in the extension of additional offers, in which Lee’s decision will only become harder due to the options he has in regards to where he can play at the next level. Either way, we do not deny his talent, and this is the reason why we have bumped him from the 21st slot, to the 11th. Lee not only has super quick feet out of his breaks, but he runs smooth routes, in which he then has explosive ability after the catch once he is able to get the ball in his hands. This makes him his QB’s best friend, as he is able to turn small plays into big gains. With this, we also like the way that he looks the ball into his hands, and can box out defenders as well. For his age, his ability to do this, and maintain good body control is elite compared to other players across the country. If he can keep this up, he will continue to be one of the top recruits in the state, and will likely go on to have a great college career as well.
Kayin Lee Kayin Lee 6'0" | 160 lbs | DB Cedar Grove | 2023 State GA – CB (Cedar Creek)
Moving from spot number 32 to 17, Kayin Lee Kayin Lee 6'0" | 160 lbs | DB Cedar Grove | 2023 State GA is also another prospect who has seen his stock rise. Not only have we taken notice, but he is another prospect who has received more attention this offseason. This includes the likes of more SEC, and ACC teams. If this is not impressive enough, Lee is worth taking a look at in regards to his film. At 6’0, 160 pounds, Lee is also the prototypical size and frame for a CB his age. His developmental size and frame likely sets him apart from players his age, and the way he plays with his eyes, and has good body control and fluidity in his hips, also makes him very sought after. In coverage, not only does Lee stay in the hip pocket of receivers well, but he also has quick feet, which helps him to break on short routes easily, and to be able to cover slants, and digs efficiently as well. His pedals seem to be decent as well, but we would like to see more consistency in the way he turns and runs. While he is able to do so at a high rate, improvement in this area can help him as he continues to develop
TJ Searcy TJ Searcy 6'5" | 250 lbs | DL Upson- Lee | 2023 State GA – DE (Upson Lee)
While Searcy may be a bit under the radar for most fans, we certainly have taken notice to his rising stock. Not only does he display plenty of raw, physical ability, but he has plenty of developmental talent as well. If you don’t believe us, ask UGA and South Carolina. Both of these teams have extended him offers, and we certainly see why, which is the reason behind his jump up to the 19th spot on our list. Not only does he have a big, and long frame, but he plays very aggressive football. He fires off of the ball well, wraps up on the ball carrier cleanly, and makes good tackles for loss. He also uses good hands, and moves with ease. Most of the time, players his age tend to be stiff, and have a hard time moving laterally, but for Searcy, this is not a problem. We also love the way he plays with technique, and can win off of the line. His strength is also great for his age too, which is proven by the fact that he is able to completely manhandle some of the players he makes contact with.
