Stephen Britton, Santa Fe Christian, 2021
Santa Fe Christian has one of the most prolific offenses in the San Diego area. The Eagles had their biggest test of the season last week against Mount Miguel and Britton answered the challenge. The senior rushed for 209 yards on just 13 carries with three touchdowns in the team’s 28-14 win. He is the leading rusher in the San Diego Section with 983 yards with 17 touchdowns. It’s incredible that he will eclipse 1,000 yards rushing and possibly 20 touchdowns in this short football season. Britton is unsigned and could be a steal for someone late in the recruiting process.

Lucas Pacheco, Estancia, 2021
Pacheco was a dominant special teams player for Estancia last season and has stepped up as his role has increased his senior year. The senior rushed for 310 yards and had three touchdowns in a 28-10 win over Laguna Beach. He had a 69-yard touchdown run and led Estancia to its first win over Laguna Beach since 2015. He has excellent field vision and is always capable of breaking a big run.

Manny Robert, Hillcrest, 2021
Robert was one of my sleeper running backs in the Inland Empire heading into this season. He has been solid all season but had yet to have a breakout game against a decent opponent. That game happened for Robert last week when he rushed for 150 yards and 22 carries and a pair of touchdowns in a 35-20 win against Ramona. He also caught a 76-yard touchdown pass in the win. When he gets into space he has breakaway speed and is a one-move back who doesn’t dance around and get hit hard. He is averaging 9 yards per carry and would be an excellent junior college back or lower division player.

Tre Samuel, Westchester, 2021
City Section football is back! It took the LA City Section awhile to get its schools ready to play football with the proper COVID protocols, but it is finally here. Samuel was one of the top running backs in the City Section entering this season and had a great performance in his senior opener. He rushed for 147 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown in a close 14-12 win over Fairfax. He was the best offensive player on the field and likely will be for a few games this season. The Westchester offense is built for Samuel and he will have a big senior season and maybe get a late offer somewhere.

Vince Silva, Sunny Hills, 2021
Silva had a career-game running the ball when it mattered the most. He rushed for a career-high 344 yards on 17 carries with three touchdowns to beat Fullerton for the Fullerton City Championship. The Lancers have been running the ball extremely well the entire season and Silva has been fantastic. He was a great defensive player last season but people didn’t expect him to produce this much on offense. Silva and Sunny Hills will try to beat La Habra this week for the Freeway League championship. He is signed with Southern Oregon University.

Lucky Sutton, Cathedral Catholic, 2022
One of the biggest wins of the weekend was Cathedral Catholic cementing itself as the top football team in San Diego by routing Lincoln 41-0. The Dons left no doubt and ran the ball down Lincoln’s throat. Multiple running backs scored but Sutton scored multiple touchdowns in the win. He opened the scoring with a 15-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter to set the tone. He is a decent sized back at 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds and has great speed for his size. Sutton has five offers including Colorado State, San Diego State and San Jose State.
