LB Scouting Report: PRZ Exposure Series – Southern California

<p>The linebacker group at the May 10th Exposure Series in Irvine featured five prospects with a range of sizes and frames. Below is my evaluation focused on their physical traits and playing styles based on what I seen that day.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Martinez has a smaller, lighter frame and he has good short-area quickness and the ability to flow sideline to sideline. At 5'7” and 150 pounds, he is a linebacker who can excel in coverage and make plays in space. He has strong change-of-direction ability and the potential to be effective dropping into zones or matching up with running backs and tight ends.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Suani brings a stockier, more compact build at 5'9” and 225 pounds. He has good power and the ability to play with leverage against the run. His lower center of gravity and added mass allow him to be a linebacker who can hold up at the point of attack and shed blocks. As a class of 2029 prospect, he has significant developmental upside. He is a versatile linebacker capable of playing both inside and outside. He can take on offensive linemen and contribute in run defense and disrupt passing lanes. As a class of 2029 prospect, he has plenty of room to add strength and improve his overall athleticism. He plays with good pad level and physicality. He is a linebacker who can be effective both against the run and in coverage, with enough mass to hold up in traffic. He can play with length and physicality at the second level. He has the tools to take on blockers, set the edge, and be a factor in both run support and pass coverage. He is in a strong developmental window. At 6'2” and 220 pounds, he has good size and length for a linebacker. He plays with leverage and physicality at the point of attack. He can take on offensive linemen, set the edge, or stack and shed in the run game. As a class of 2029 prospect, he is still early in his development but already has a frame, long-term upside at the inside linebacker position.
