ROSEMOUNT--With the Prep Redzone Spring Showcase Series making its way to Rosemount this Sunday, I thought it would be important to look at some of the prospects making their way to Irish Country to show off what the Midwest has to offer as far as talent goes.
I will break down some of the 1on1 matchups I look forward to watching, some ranking battles that will be decided on Sunday, and much more!
THE BATTLES
The 1on1 Hog Molly Battle
When I got a first look at the showcase roster this week my jaw hit close to the floor when I saw two of Minnesota’s tallest offensive linemen will both be in attendance at our Prep Redzone Minnesota Showcase. Standing both at 6’9, I really hope to see a 1on1 battle between [player_tooltip player_id="19004" first="Peyton" last="Lange"] (2023) of SMB vs. [player_tooltip player_id="116191" first="Ethan" last="Fischer"] (2022) of Maple River sometime on Saturday. Both are top 15 prospects in their respective classes and both in my eyes will become Divison I linemen in the near future. Besides the size alone, both are straight-up maulers and both have an extremely high ceiling as far as potential at the college level
The Battle of the #1 and #2 QB in the 2022 Class
The Outstate battles the Metro in the Class of 2022 for the #1 QB spot in Rosemount. Mankato East’s [player_tooltip player_id="22947" first="Jacob" last="Eggert"] is the most poised passer I have seen in the state of Minnesota and has an excellent touch on the football which I got to witness at our last showcase. Robbinsdale Cooper’s [player_tooltip player_id="18441" first="Joseph" last="Russell"] is another favorite of mine, as he too has a loaded arm and can make a lot of excellent plays with his legs too, and holds one Divison I offer from Northern Iowa at the moment. Our scouts and I have gone back and forth between these two for the 1-2 spot so it will be a heckuva lot of fun to see who wins the QB1 battle on Sunday in Rosemount.
2023 TE Battle
Going back to the rankings, we will have our #2 and #4 TE spot battling for position on Sunday in Rosemount with [player_tooltip player_id="112083" first="Brandon" last="Riddle"] of Spectrum (Elk River) vs. [player_tooltip player_id="112046" first="Wes" last="Overton"] of Rockford. Riddle is more of your traditional tight end with excellent next-level size, big hands, and a long reach. Overton has some excellent speed and a bully mentality when he has the football in his hands and plays much bigger than his 6’2 195-pound frame. Let’s just say I will have a close eye on these two on Sunday, to say the least.
Triple the Chargers
Making the just over three-hour trip across Highway 29 from Wittenberg-Birnamwood we have three prospects to watch from the Chargers program. [player_tooltip player_id="31384" first="David" last="Gauderman"] (#1 overall prospect in 2023 in Wisconsin), WR [player_tooltip player_id="118543" first="Kaden" last="Schmidt"], and QB [player_tooltip player_id="123236" first="Ben" last="Wesolowski"]. I have evaluated each one of these young men either live and in person or on film and I believe all three are college prospects to watch at the Minnesota showcase. You can learn more about all three on my county prospect list I did for Shawano County last month.
Prospects to Watch
This is my prospect list to watch that I have seen some great glimpses of on film, but have not gotten a chance to watch in person as of yet which will change on Sunday.
[player_tooltip player_id="119578" first="Tanner" last="Gangl"], QB, Spectrum (Elk River) (2023)

[player_tooltip player_id="18428" first="Jacob" last="Kelly"], WR, Bemidji (2022)
Camden Ludeman, RB, Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial (2022)
