Stat Monsters: 2A Leading Rushers CO ’22

Class 2A was had several productive running backs in the 2020 season. A large number of them were in the Class of 2022. Here are five leading rushers from the Class of 2022 Class 2A Ranks looking for bigger seniors seasons. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35598" first="Torrey" last="Horak"], 5’10”, 165, Rossville</strong> – Horak is one of the most explosive players in Kansas regardless of classification. The Bulldog junior quarterback rushed for 1,680 yards in 2020 and scored 30 rushing touchdowns. He also threw for 1,400-plus yards and 25 touchdowns. He should be recruited by Division I programs and will for sure be recruited by Division II schools. He has an older brother playing for Pittsburg State. <strong>Reed Adelhardt, 6’2”, 180, Garden Plain </strong>– Adelhardt has a quick first step and only speeds up as he gets going. He rushed for 1,179 yards in his junior season for the Owls. He scored 15 rushing touchdowns and added two more scores. Adelhardt has great stamina and takes advantage of tired defenders late in games. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="89687" first="Mason" last="Gottschalk"], 5’10”, 170, Ellis </strong>– Gottschalk will be an interesting prospect to watch in 2021. He rushed for 900-plus yards but also had 200-plus receiving yards. The Railroader is listed as a WR on his Max Preps and HUDL accounts, but he could be recruited to play linebacker, running back, or as a receiver. The bottom line with this young man is he is a baller and an athlete. <strong>Braxton Harrison, 5’10”, 161, Cimarron </strong>– Harrison is a talented young man and should get multiple looks from JUCO programs. He rushed for 881 yards during his junior season with 12 rushing touchdowns. The Blujay quarterback also passed for 927 yards. He is also a solid defensive back. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="91392" first="Dalton" last="Hilyard"], 6’0”, 170, Douglass </strong> – The Douglass Bulldog captain had a productive junior season and will look to improve on those numbers in his senior campaign. Hilyard finished with 848 yards rushing with 10 touchdowns on the ground. He also plays linebacker and amassed 60 tackles, 11 of which for a loss.
