<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>McClellan Hits The Power Five Cycle</strong></span>
Every week we’ve written about the recruitment of Owasso 2022 defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="38674" first="Chris" last="McClellan"] because he’s been one of the more recruited prospects in Oklahoma. Last week was a special week for McClellan and here’s why. McClellan hit the power five cycle last week as he got an offer from a program in every power five conference. Things started with the Pac-12 as USC offered. The Big Ten and the ACC followed as Michigan and Virginia extended offers to the Owasso big man. Finally, on Friday, McClellan had a two-offer day as the SEC and Big 12 were represented when LSU and OU both offered.
All in all, five programs all offered McClellan, and four of those names are some of the biggest names in college football. Sorry Virginia. The last two offers are two of the biggest that McClellan has earned so far. LSU certainly doesn’t come into Oklahoma very often but they go after the elite prospects. And OU will now have to play catch up when it comes to the talented in-state lineman. Now that the Sooners have offered McClellan, the heat to land a commitment from him gets a little warmer. When OU offers an in-state prospect, the expectation is they’ll land that prospect.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Hasz Named All American & Has Second Straight Four Offer Week</strong></span>
For the second straight week, Bixby 2023 tight end [player_tooltip player_id="55156" first="Luke" last="Hasz"] picked up four offers. He was also invited to the Under Armour All American game after a stellar performance at their camp in Dallas last weekend. Hasz picked up offers from Liberty, Ohio State, Penn State and Utah within the last week. Similar to McClellan, it seems like every week we’re talking about Hasz picking up multiple offers from not only Power 5 programs but some of the bigger P5 programs in the country and that’s what we saw last week with Ohio State and Penn State offering.
Hasz was also invited to the Under Armour All American game following his senior season. This invitation came after a strong performance down at their Dallas camp last weekend. We were surprised that Hasz wasn’t one of the kids at the camp invited to the All American game on the spot in Dallas. However, to the camp’s credit, they extended the invitation within a week of Hasz showing out.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Two Prospects Pick Up Their First Offers</strong></span>
Alright, so we’ve admitted that these Recruiting Reports have been pretty heavy on [player_tooltip player_id="38674" first="Chris" last="McClellan"] and [player_tooltip player_id="55156" first="Luke" last="Hasz"] but we switch gears now and look at two prospects who picked up their first offers in the last week. We start with Thomas 2022 offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="101404" first="Camden" last="Billy"] who picked up an offer from Navy. When it came to Thomas, it’s easy to jump right to OSU signee and All American [player_tooltip player_id="38503" first="Aden" last="Kelley"]. However, if you saw Thomas play, you noticed that Kelley had a pretty strong running mate lined up right next to him along the offensive and defensive lines. That would be [player_tooltip player_id="101404" first="Camden" last="Billy"], who has the chance to be a fast riser in the 2022 class. Billy projects to being more of an interior offensive lineman at the next level.
The other prospect is a 2023 athlete from Community Christian in Norman. [player_tooltip player_id="122426" first="Bai" last="Jobe"] has emerged as a very intriguing prospect in the state’s 2023 class. He only played six games last year for Community Christian and it was his first time playing football at all. He’s moved to Norman from Africa but at 6’5 and just an outstanding athlete, Jobe has immediately become a big time prospect. He’s trained down in Durant with C4’s Sean Cooper and when Cooper tweeted out Jobe was the real deal and P5 schools would be calling, we listened. Pittsburgh was the first school to offer Jobe and they won’t be the last. The lanky sophomore is extremely raw but the ceiling is incredibly high.
