The Brandon Valley Lynx football program has been one of the storied programs in the State of South Dakota in the past few years. They have sent a good number of athletes to the next level to play football. After dropping a close season opener, the Lynx went on a tear winning out the rest of the season and taking home the 11AAA Championship. I covered two of their games this season and was impressed with their rushing attack. [player_tooltip player_id="56249" first="Tate" last="Johnson"] was one of the best RB’s in the State this year, but he had a very impressive Offensive Line in front of him as well. The scary part about next season is that they return three of their Linemen, and they have two more ready to fill the voids left by the graduating Seniors. The separating factor for the Lynx offense this season was the ability to make big plays in the pass game this year, Joseph Kolbeck was good RPO Quarterback, and [player_tooltip player_id="56268" first="Jackson" last="Hilton"] was a good target to throw to. Defensively, the most points they gave up was in garbage time, when they had already scored 40+ points in the game. Players like [player_tooltip player_id="56359" first="Parker" last="Reed"], Ayden Lloyd, [player_tooltip player_id="56329" first="Joey" last="Nemec"] and Hilton leading the defensive attack for the Lynx defense in all facets of the game like run support, pass defense, and pass rush. I will mention all the players that signed Letters of Intent to play college sports as well as the players set to fill their shoes next season.

Players Returning-
DT/RB- [player_tooltip player_id="56459" first="Jordan" last="Johnson"] played a big role at DT this season, he has a quick first step off the snap off the ball and shoots gaps well. We are assuming that he will get a few snaps at RB next year, if he’s not the primary back, he will still be good on the defensive side of the ball. He has a good build to be affective on both sides of the ball, he has the agility and strength as well.

DB- [player_tooltip player_id="56537" first="Noah" last="Thompson"] played at corner and a little at Safety. He is a good form tackler and good at jamming his receiver at the line. His footwork and hand technique helped him shed blockers to be big on the perimeter in both the run game and screens. He positioned himself well to make plays on both the receiver and the ball on routes.

LB- [player_tooltip player_id="93091" first="Ryan" last="Doll"] is very physical at his LB/DE position, takes on blocks and holds contain well. He is also a good form tackler, but also has some pop when making contact with the ballcarrier. He flows well, strings out plays and takes away the cutback lane.

WR- [player_tooltip player_id="93090" first="Sam" last="Scholten"] took pride in blocking for the run game. He seemed to be the receiver to run to because they knew he would seal the edge for them to run through. He could also run good routes too, probably be targeted more next season.

OL- [player_tooltip player_id="56514" first="Sam" last="Klein"], Brady Koupal, [player_tooltip player_id="77493" first="Navarro" last="Schunke"] all three of these guys have t
he same attributes, some are a little different from one another, but bottom line; they spark the run game. They all have good feet and hands, are explosive off the snap, and finish their blocks! Their size, speed and power are what makes them the scrariest group of linemen in the State.

Brady Koupal
WR/TE- Peyton Carroll is a good possession target, if the Lynx needed a first down longer than five yards, the ball was going his way. His height made it tough to cover him, his hands were always reliable, and his awareness got him in the open space for an easy throw from the QB.

K- [player_tooltip player_id="118819" first="Zach" last="Brummels"] took the fireworks out of the other teams’ special teams unit, kicking the ball through the end zone every time. He made two field goals this year, BV did not attempt many field goals anyway. He gets good height and good distance on the ball.
