I would like to recognize the players who have caught my attention with impressive performances on the field. Some of the players are continuing their high level of play from the 2019 season. One of the players is making an impact after moving up to varsity football as a starter.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28670" first="Byrum" last="Brown"], QB, 6’4" 185, Rolesville HS. </strong> He has impressed with accurate mid-range passes, long balls, and running to avoid a sack and gaining yardage. He has continued his high-level of play from the 2019 season, with an improvement as a passer and decision-making on the field.
<strong>Josh Benton, QB, 6’1" 178, Jacksonville HS.</strong> He has some impressive performances with accurate mid-range passes and running when needed to gain yardage, scoring often. Josh has made his varsity debut as a starter and as a dual-threat QB.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28653" first="Darius" last="Kane"], WR, 6’1" 170, Eastern Alamance HS.</strong> He displays the ability to separate from the defender quickly to make the catch and sprint to the end zone. Darius is continuing his high-level of play from the 2019 season and continues to confirm that he is one of the best wide receivers in the state.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28658" first="William" last="Hawkins IV"], WR, 6’4" 210, Heritage HS. </strong> He displays the ability to separate from the defender quickly to make the catch in traffic, often double-teamed. William runs precision pass routes and is difficult to defend in man coverage as a long ball threat. He is continuing his high-level of play from the 2019 season, with an improvement in making catches in traffic and one of the best long ball threats in the state.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="97528" first="Jesiah" last="Henderson"], OT, 6’5" 300, Rolesville HS. </strong> A dominant force on the offensive line of a high-scoring offense. A combination of technique and strength to overpower the defender, resulting in a high number of pancake blocks. Jesiah is continuing his high-level of play from the 2019 season with an improvement in blocking skills.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="97534" first="CJ" last="Mims"], DT, 6’2" 260, West Craven HS. </strong> A dominant force on the defensive line. He is quick out of his stance, often unblocked to make tackles for losses. Displays good speed in the open field to close in on the ball carrier to make the stop.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="44971" first="KJ" last="Sampson"], DT, 6’4" 285, New Bern HS.</strong> A dominant force on the defensive line who is making tackles for losses, despite being double-teamed, impressive performance. KJ is continuing his high-level of play from the 2019 season with an improvement in explosiveness out of his stance. KJ is difficult to block in an one-on-one situation.
