It will be the first game for new Head Coach Casey Taylor who is taking over an Inderkum program that has been a powerhouse over many years in the San Joaquin Section and who is coming off an 11-win season during 2019. Clayton Valley is fresh off a State Championship run and has many key players returning this season. Below, we will list and break down some of the impact players that both squads have and who should make a big impact in Friday nights game.
Omari Taylor-Clayton Valley Charter HS
Taylor is an explosive back that is a main component of the Ugly Eagles offense and runs with tremendous contact balance and good overall speed through all three levels. A fluid and smooth runner who can break tackles in traffic and catch the ball out of the backfield, stopping Taylor will be a tough task for the Tigers.
Dominic Spivey-Clayton Valley Charter HS
A transfer from Benicia HS last year, Spivey is a downhill physical thumper that is a tackling machine and can close in a hurry while having tremendous natural instincts and coverage ability in space. He will be one of the top defenders in the entire section this Spring season.
Jake Kern-Clayton Valley Charter HS
Standing tall in the pocket and orchestrating a fast paced and quick hitting offense, Kern will manage the offense this year and has a big arm while keeping his eyes downfield and working through his progressions and flashing strong pocket mobility and awareness.
Jordan Barbadillo-Clayton Valley Charter HS
A downhill and physical runner between the tackles, he will be a bruising back that can get to the second level in a hurry and break arm/shoulder tackles and gain the tough yards.
Tyler Charbonneau-Clayton Valley Charter HS
Committed to Cal Poly, Charbonneau is a dominant force on both sides of the ball that is extremely athletic for his size and plays with great physicality and toughness. Having a strong initial punch while keeping his hands inside defenders and able to climb to the second level and pull in space while taking good angles to defenders, he will be one of the best lineman Norcal has to offer this season.
Amari Comier-Clayton Valley Charter HS
One of the best lineman across all of Norcal, Comier is a balanced defender that plays with heavy hands and a low pad level while playing his keys and has good explosion off the edge in pass rush situations. He will help anchor the CVCHS OL and DL this Spring season.
Dylan Seeley-Clayton Valley Charter HS
One of the top linebackers across all of Norcal, Sealy is a hard hitting second level defender that has good speed for his size and takes good angles to ball carriers in space. He plays with a good pad level and gets his hands on blockers in a hurry while winning with strength/power at the point of attack. He will be a dominant piece of a loaded defense and has next level abilities at the inside linebacker position.
Rahsaan Woodland II-Clayton Valley Charter HS
Woodland is another running back that has great power and explosion near the LOS and is a bruising back in the open field. Hard to tackle due to lower body strength and leg drive, he will play on both sides of the ball and be a key piece in one of the most efficient offenses across the region.
Carlos Wilson-Inderkum HS
A transfer from Capital Christian High School, Wilson is one of the best ’23 athletes in the state and currently holds big time offers from the likes of ASU, Colorado, Pittsburg and UNLV. A very twitchy and explosive player with great short area quickness and breaking ability/ball skills, Wilson is a weapon on both sides of the ball and will be one of the top two-way players in all of Norcal.
Toe Tatafu-Inderkum HS
The 2022 prospect has a big frame and plays with great strength at the point of attack and has good feet/lateral movement abilities for his size while athletic enough to pull and block second level defenders. Violent through his blocks while finishing with good physicality, he will be one of the most dominant interior lineman in the region over the next two years.
Jalen Bryant-Inderkum HS
A dominant force along the defensive line, Bryant is a violent defender that resets the LOS well while playing tough against the run and twitchy enough with good bend/quick hands to rush the passer and play in space. One of the top defensive lineman across the entire section, he will be a key piece in stopping the CVCHS offense and is poised for another huge Senior season.
Tanner Colvin-Inderkum HS
A smart and instinctual safety, Colvin is a very sound defender that has a high football IQ and is not afraid to come up and make plays in the box/take on bigger blockers while also flashing good ball skills and range during his JV Sophomore season.
Amani Pressley-Inderkum HS
A long and rangy corner, Pressley is poised to break out this season for the Tigers and will be a force in the back end. He moves well in space and shows good COD and ball skills/long speed while also having fluid hips in space and will only continue to put on size/muscle.
