Prep Redzone looks at the current prospect rankings for New Jersey’s 2022 recruiting class. New Jersey was one state that could play some games last fall during the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on some research, I believe you’ll see some changes after the next rankings update by Prep Redzone. For now, let’s look at where things stand in the 2022 New Jersey Football Prospect Rankings.
Today we look at New Jersey’s top players in the 2022 recruiting class from No. 45 to No. 36.
No. 45 [player_tooltip player_id="28003" first="Parker" last="Williamson"] Ι 5-11 Ι 165 Ι Linebacker Ι Sparta
Williamson is the No. 5 linebacker in the state. Williamson finished with 33 total tackles and four sacks in 7 games last season. He plays outside linebacker for his high school but is best suited to play middle linebacker in college.
No. 44 [player_tooltip player_id="28002" first="Jack" last="Young"] Ι 5-10 Ι Quarterback Ι 170 Ι Newton
Young is a strong candidate to rise in these rankings during the next update. He completed 48-out-of-77 passes for 943 yards, eight touchdowns, and one interception in six games last season. Young also ran the football 30 times for 291 yards and one touchdown. His team won all six games that it played last season.
No. 43 [player_tooltip player_id="28001" first="Esquire" last="Boyce"] Ι 6-1 Ι 225 Ι Linebacker Ι Bergen Catholic
Boyce is a hard-hitting, sideline-to-sideline, tackling machine. He’s very good at both outside and inside linebacker spots. I think he’ll excel in the middle at the next level.
No. 42 [player_tooltip player_id="28000" first="Steven" last="Demboski"] Ι 6-4 Ι 255 Ι Defensive Lineman Ι Pascack Valley
Demboski plays both offensive tackle and defensive tackle for his high school team. He made 24 tackles (eight solo) and sacked the quarterback three times last season. I like the odds of him staying on the defensive side of the football at the next level.
No. 41 [player_tooltip player_id="27999" first="Devion" last="Sheppard"] Ι 6-5 Ι 225 Ι Quarterback Ι West Side
Sheppard completed 48-out-of-72 passes for 1,062 yards, 11 touchdowns, and two interceptions in six games last season. Don’t sleep on his ability to run the football. Sheppard has an offer from Buffalo and is getting a lot of interest from other Division I schools.
No. 40 [player_tooltip player_id="27998" first="Nick" last="Petrillo"] Ι 6-3 Ι 220 Ι Defensive Lineman Ι Delbarton
Petrillo caught 15 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns in six games last season. We have him listed as a lineman, but he’s blossomed more on the offensive side of the football.
No. 39 [player_tooltip player_id="27997" first="Charlie" last="Barth"] Ι 6-0 Ι 215 Ι Running Back Ι New Providence
I’ll be the first to admit, it currently ranks Barth too low in these ratings. He had a monster junior year season this past fall. He carried the football 186 times for 1,702 yards and 25 touchdowns on the ground in nine games last season.
No. 38 [player_tooltip player_id="27996" first="Jackson" last="Collins"] Ι 6-0 Ι 205 Ι Linebacker Ι Seton Hall Prep
Collins was all over the field for SHP last season. He made 73 total tackles (11 solo) in six games last season. Collins had 10 or more tackles in five contests.
No. 37 [player_tooltip player_id="27995" first="Iziah" last="Belgrave"] Ι 6-0 Ι Defensive Back Ι Don Bosco (N/A – not enough film)
No. 36 [player_tooltip player_id="27994" first="Bryce" last="Cobb"] Ι 6-2 Ι 190 Ι Running Back Ι Bound Brook
Cobb carried the football 73 times for 545 yards and two touchdowns last season.
