There are playmakers all over the state and a number of them could see some smaller offers come their way as their 2020 film starts to make its way to college staffs.
Here are a few “under the radar” WRs in the 2022 class who deserve recognition and have the potential to have big seasons this fall.
Derrick Moore – Archer
Looking for explosiveness? Look no further than Moore, one of the more under the radar receivers in the state. The 6-foot-1 190-pounder can get by the defense with ease and shows outstanding hands. He can go up and high point the football and knows how to make a tough grab over a defender. He’s still developing as a route runner, like most high school receivers, but his straight-line speed and ability to make plays down the field make him one of the best overall playmakers in the Atlanta area. His speed and ability to make the acrobatic catch should give him an opportunity to see some Power 5 offers start to come his way. He has major potential as he continues to work on his craft and is on the verge of a big senior season after playing in 7-on-7 this offseason.
Xavier Brantley – Montgomery County
In small town Morgan County is where you’ll find a true diamond in the rough at receiver. The 6-foot-1 180-pounder has a lean frame with above average length for the position. He’s a twitchy receiver who knows how to get open and pick up yards after the catch. Brantley tallied over 600 yards receiving and scored 12 total TDs as a junior last fall. He’s an unselfish player that is willing to block, be a decoy, or whatever it takes for the offense to be successful. He’s an explosive player and consistently the best overall athlete on the field. He’s got speed to get past the defense and does a great job of locating the ball in the air and making a play down the field. He’s certainly deserved some attention from schools after an outstanding junior season.
Curtis Head – Perry
One of the top receivers in middle Georgia, the big 6-foot-2 185-pounder is coming off a big junior season where he caught 39 passes for 607 yards and three touchdowns. He can line up at RB too, but his hands are some of the best in the region and he’s tough to bring down once he gets going. He’s a physical player with deceptive speed and one of the more productive receivers in the region. He knows how to make plays and can be counted on each and every play.
