Shore Conference Standouts in Class of 2022

The Class of 2022 is ready to take that next step towards being the eldest of the high school football scene. These players are already near the top of the state. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27967" first="Alex" last="Bauman"] | Red Bank Catholic</strong> Bauman is a standout on both sides of the ball. He took a step forward as a pass catcher in 2020 but thrives on the defensive end. The 6-4 Bauman is quick off the edge and can get low to the ground to get to the ball carrier. Bauman has some big-time offers, including Notre Dame. <strong>Caron McNair | Donovan Catholic</strong> Size and strength along the offensive line is needed for a team to succeed. This is what McNair brought to the table. He has quick feet and feet along the line. His versatility and elusiveness makes him a next-level prospect in New Jersey. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28006" first="Charlie" last="Sasso"] | Wall</strong> Sasso led a Wall defense that was arguably the best in the state. When watching Sasso, his speed and route to the ball carrier stands out. He was named the Defensive Player of the Year in New Jersey because of his ability to rack up tackles and force fumbles. Sasso hit with power and did not let many get away. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27982" first="Vince" last="Carpenter"] | Red Bank Catholic</strong> At 6-6, Carpenter has great size along the offensive line and this makes him one of the top prospects in the state. For his size, Carpenter has great agility and technique. He is strong in both the run game and pass blocking. Carpenter can play any position along the line which was valuable for the Caseys this season. <strong>John Lista | Rumson-Fair Haven</strong> Lista is one of many returning stars on the defensive end for Rumson, including [player_tooltip player_id="28039" first="Aiden" last="Moriarty"]. Lista led the team with 75 tackles this season. His leadership in the middle of the defense was unparalleled. Lista will continue to grow in the middle and take the next step this season. <strong>Joe Campanella | Raritan</strong> Raritan won six games this season and Campanella’s versatility was a main reason. On the offensive side of the ball, he was an elite receiver out of the backfield. Campanella has reliable hands and is a next-level route runner. His burst helped in the open field with the ball in his hands. <strong>Pete Pezzullo | St. John Vianney</strong> Pezzullo was the focal point of the Lancer offense this season. He was the workhorse in the backfield behind a strong offensive line. Pezzullo had great speed with a first step that gained an advantage. This matched with his patience and vision in the backfield made him a menace in the Shore this season.
