The quarterback position is deep for the Class of 2022. There’s some notable names at the top of the position, but these are five signal callers that people should know heading into the 2021 season. They impressed in 2020, and they’ll look to build on their All-State Honorable Mention nods during their senior year. [player_tooltip player_id="35574" first="Bradley" last="Neill"] – Buhler, 6’0”, 160 Neill has the potential to have a standout senior year. He shows nice poise in the pocket, and he reads defenses well. His background as a pitcher helps with his quick release and accuracy also. Coming off an unpredictable year; Neill should have a full off-season to improve and add size. I’d expect a strong showing from Neill and the Crusaders this fall. [player_tooltip player_id="109937" first="Harrison" last="Voth"] – Cheney, 6’0”, 170 Voth was the ring leader of Cheney’s high scoring offense this past season. He helped Cheney go on to average 41 points per game; leading to an impressive 9-1 record. Voth’s numbers were off the chart, as he threw for 2,376 yards and rushed for 512 yards; with 40 total touchdowns. Look for Voth and the Cardinals to be just as explosive in 2021. [player_tooltip player_id="91395" first="Daigan" last="Kruger"] – Silver Lake, 5’10”, 185 Kruger had a strong showing during his junior year. The Silver Lake quarterback threw for 1,589 yards with 23 touchdowns, and only five interceptions. He also added 586 yards on the ground and 13 touchdowns. Kruger’s mobility and quick decision making should put him in line for another solid season. Jake Wright – St. Mary’s-Colgan, 5’11”, 180 Wright flew a little under the radar in 2020, but he quietly put together a good junior campaign. He helped guide the Panthers to a 7-3 record; while throwing for 1,134 yards with 12 touchdowns and completing 61% of his passes. This fall I would expect Wright to have more of a green light in the offense, and for the Panthers to air it out more. Tony Detwiler – Central Heights, 5’11”, 170 The Vikings improved in 2020 with Detwiler under center. It was Detwiler’s first year starting at quarterback, and he showed flashes of his dual threat ability. He had 833 yards through the air, with 12 touchdowns, and he also added 1,039 yards on the ground with eight touchdowns. With one year under his belt; I believe Detwiler will be more confident as a passer and his numbers will see an increase in 2021.
