While there are only 100 prospects that are rated in the class, the reason why Florida has no equal in producing talent, comes in the next 300 players, who are all high level prospects who have only been overshadowed by talent that is among the best anywhere.
There are a number of states in the country that can match our top 100 prospects, but after that, it’s a joke and a feeble attempt to keep up with the endless loop of talent that is Florida.
Beyond that first list of prospects that you will see are other gifted football players – in the Tampa Bay area – which includes a trip to the west, north and into the City of Tampa will reveal some impressive Class of 2022 rising seniors.
Today, we bring you five impressive linebacker prospects from a gifted region:
Malachi McCalip, 6-3, 225, Pinellas Park. The first thing you see when watching this young man is a linebacker who will surprise you. Because of his size, many coaches will want to get him closer to the action – while others will embrace the fact that he can run and causes some havoc all over the field. He has speed and quickness – and will not be afraid to use it – on blitzes, stopping the run because he is always around that football.

Jorden McCaslin, OLB, 6-2, 210, Wesley Chapel. Coming from Tampa Bay Tech, here is someone who has the chance to be special this coming season, and if you watch him perform, you will see how gifted this young man is. Competed against some top football talent last year – and ended up coming up huge. This is certainly a gifted football player you will want to keep an eye on during the off-season and into the 2021 season.

Christopher Pressley, OLB, 6-0, 215, Wesley Chapel Wiregrass Ranch. Here is a true throwback player. Someone who is tough, quick, strong and very athletic. Has become a solid tackler, using his experience to make many key plays. Never gives up on a play. Motor keeps running. Also plays running back, but linebacker is the ticket to the next level.

Theotis Smith, 6-1, 220, Zephyrhills. Talk about having a motor and being athletic. This is one of those first to practice and last to leave kind of athletes. He is a solid football player – with outstanding vision and play-recognizing capabilities that is something that you don’t often see – not at this level. He is always around the ball – especially when his team needed it the most. Definitely someone who is going to be special.

Cliff Spears Jr., OLB, 6-1, 215, Seffner Armwood. Before you snap that ball, you better have a good idea where No. 15 is lined up and where he is headed. This is one of the top defensive prospects at this position, and as you watch him play more and more, you will understand that this is a play-maker who is quick, athletic and very smart – on and off the field, where his 3.8 GPA is paving the way for a bright future.
