Tough Schedule Prepares Madison County
If you flash back to the 1R state title game last December in Tallahassee, you can see how Madison County used its schedule to gain a major advantage.
While head coach Price Harris and his Cowboys have carved out a reputation through the years as being one of the best football programs in the state, that tag had come back to haunt this program – as many schools stayed away from Boot Hill and this impressive team.
By not having smaller schools on the schedule, it has given this team an opportunity to go out and schedule larger and deeper opponents, which have more than gotten them ready for a playoff run that included Mayo Lafayette, Lake Butler Union County, and Panama City Bozeman before dropping a title contest to defending state champs Hawthorne.
Playing that schedule had prepared them for just about anything the playoffs would send their way on the road to Bragg Memorial Stadium.
If this program is to get back to the title game – and all indications, are they will be a favorite, help will come from the rising senior (2025) class along with some impressive underclassmen who are more than ready for the challenge.
