Recruiting has been tough with the lack of seasons, camps, combines and limited sports available, but these guys have proved that they deserve a look. Take a look at 5 WR’s that need to be looked at:
Kade Zimmerman, 6’3″ 180lbs, Irvine HS
Zimmerman is a prototypical X or Z. He has good length with a large catch radius. He uses both physicality or active feet or hands at release and has good speed once he gets downfield. His hands are highly impressive, as he constantly snagged one handed and athletic catches over DB’s on film. He shows good body control and excellent coordination to win contested throws. Even if he’s covered, he’ll make the catch. He does a good job securing the catch quickly limiting the DB’s ability to punch through the ball. Zimmerman has shown flashes of shiftiness in open space, and has been putting a show in club ball recently. He holds only one notable offer from Black Hills State, and is a definite prospect to take a look at.
Zedekiah Rodriguez-Brown, 5’11” 175lbs, Los Altos HS
Rodriguez-Brown is listed as an ATH, but can make a massive impact at the next level as a WR. Excellent athleticism all across the board and a playmaker wherever he lines up. He’s an explosive route runner with top tier speed. Rodriguez-Brown is elusive and shifty in open space, showing loose hips and solid change of direction. He shows soft hands and tracks the ball well. He is also a very dangerous return specialist, giving him big play ability every time he touches the ball. Projects as a D1 talent and will be a steal wherever he ends up.
Kelly Huesby, 6’4″ 190lbs, Saratoga HS
Huesby has excellent length and reach with room to put on weight. He shows a large catch radius and and does a great job using his length to haul in contested throws. He does a good job getting his head around quick on shallower routes and gets upfield after the catch rather than trying to dance east-west. Huesby is ideal for stretching the field vertically as he consistently hauled in verts over DB’s on film. He holds a high ceiling and will only continue to mature as a receiver and get better.
Brandon Vasquez, 5’9″ 175lbs, La Habra HS
Vasquez is underlooked due to size, but is an absolute game changer once he touches the ball. He shows active feet and fast twitch and is a precise route runner. Excellent short area quickness and shows a burst out of his cuts and into his route. He does a good job running up the DB’s toes to then explode into his route, generating solid separation. Vasquez has soft hands and can haul in athletic catches. He does a good job working levels back to the QB during scramble as well. Vasquez would transition nicely to a slot at the next level.
Luis Lopez, 6’3″ 165lbs, Woodlake HS
Lopez has solid length and does a great job high pointing balls. He has a large catch radius and does a good job adjusting his body to make difficult catches. He tracks the ball well and shows a solid leaping ability with good timing, as he is able to frequently win contested throws. He shows good physicality after the catch and fights for extra yards. He has room to put on weight and has the potential to have a big senior season to rise his stock.
