St. Louis saw a departure of a lot of talent due to Graduation. For example, Alex Pipes, Francis Howell QB/ ATH led the Vikings to the District Final, where they came up short against eventual class 6 runner up De Smet. But despite the departures, there is a long list of returning players with extraordinary talent. Including three quarterbacks; Seth Marcione Seth Marcione 6'2" | 190 lbs | ATH De Smet | 2022 State MO , Booker Simmons, and Cooper Brown Cooper Brown 6'3" | 205 lbs | QB Holt | 2022 State MO
Seth Marcione Seth Marcione 6'2" | 190 lbs | ATH De Smet | 2022 State MO – De Smet 2022
Marcione is one of a kind type talent. When Marcione throws the ball it is with power and with such precision. In a shortened season due to Covid-19, Marcione threw for seven touchdowns and 761 yds. Marcione led the Spartans to its second straight state championship appearance. Marcione never gives up on plays, including being the lead blocker for his running backs. He also could run the ball himself when the time came. With his body structure looking exactly like Cam Newton, Marcione was able to rush for 382 yards, four touchdowns, all while averaging 6.1 yards per carry. De Smet will be right back in the title contention, due to the leadership under center from Marcione.
Cooper Brown Cooper Brown 6'3" | 205 lbs | QB Holt | 2022 State MO Wentzville-Holt
Brown is the type of a quarterback that college coaches dream over. Brown right now would immediately start for a college program, and he still has his senior season to play. Brown has been a starter all three seasons at Holt thus far, while being named captain for two of them. Brown led the Holt Indians to a playoff victory, before his season was cut short due to Covid-19 issues in the teams’ program. Brown went off in his junior season throwing for 32 touchdowns, passer rating of 149, and over 2,000 yards through the air. The most impressive stat from Brown is what he did not do, and that was turn the ball over. In 181 attempts, he only threw 6 interceptions. Brown stands tall in the pocket, but maneuvers when it collapses. He throws a fastball for short passes but hits his receivers on the dime when going deep. It would be very surprising if Brown isn’t on a D-I team come Fall 2022.
Booker Simmons Francis Howell
Simmons has some very big shoes with the departure of star Alex Pipes. Simmons did get quite a bit of playing time, even though it was “garbage time”. Simmons was a dual threat as well, as he has the built and versatility of a Kyler Murray. Has a strong, accurate arm but also ran the ball well. Simmons had only 18 attempts, but completed 15 of them making for a rating of 159. With the use of his feet, Simmons will be able to make plays happen, for a team that will be back to the top of class 6.
