Southwest Prairie Conference: Top Scorers – West Division

Today we will be taking a look at the Top Scorers heading into this season for the Southwest Prairie Conference West Division. The West Division has six teams: Minooka, Oswego, Oswego East, Plainfield North, West Aurora, and Yorkville. <hr /> <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>Minooka:</strong></em></span> Trevor Hudak - Hudak is apart of the class of 2022 who plays WR, he runs a nice 9 route where he high points the ball and mosses defenders. Hudak has a solid break at the top of his routes creating separation from defenders and breaks arm tackles fighting for extra yards. He reads his blocks well causing a screen pass to break for a 15 plus yard gain. Hudak is a solid player for Minooka and has playmaking abilities for this offense, be sure to keep an eye on him this upcoming season. At fullback, he runs people over, doesn't go down easily, and is a hard runner in the red zone. He is also a solid lead blocker in this red zone package where he pancakes defenders. Wingerter is a solid player on both sides of the ball and one who will accumulate more touchdowns this season. Hudl: https://www.hudl.com/profile/5599175 <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>Oswego:</strong></em></span> Jacob Sergen - Sergen is apart of the class of 2022 who plays RB, as a sophomore he played up on varsity. He's an N/S runner that has a quick burst of speed off the LOS with solid jump cuts showcasing his elusiveness. This causes defenders to miss tackles and settle for arm tackles which he breaks by keeping his feet driving and running hard. Sergen plays hard and is a solid running back for Oswego for the next few years. Hudl: https://www.hudl.com/profile/11250490 Nikolas Hampton - Hampton is apart of the class of 2021 who plays WR, he is a big playmaker for this offense with his explosive ability. He is fast with solid hands and has a nice stick at the top of his routes. This is topped with him making contested catches, being a deep threat, and running solid routes. Hampton breaks arm tackles and blocks downfield playing through the whistle each play. Hampton is a key player in Oswego's offensive attack who looks to capitalize on another solid season for his senior year. Hudl: https://www.hudl.com/profile/9799852 <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>Oswego East:</strong></em></span> Michael Ford - Ford is apart of the class of 2021 who plays QB, he has nice footwork in the pocket and has a solid touch on the deep ball. Ford puts the ball in the WR basket and can make all level throws (level 1, 2, and 3). He can throw on the run and will pull the ball down to scramble as a last resort. Ford is at the helm of Oswego East's offense as he looks to command them heading into this season. Hudl: https://www.hudl.com/profile/9587584 <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>Plainfield North:</strong></em></span> Adam Smith - Smith is apart of the class of 2021 who plays QB, he has solid footwork during his dropbacks and has a solid pocket presence. When he's being pressured he will step up in the pocket to complete the pass downfield and has a nice touch on the deep ball by putting it in the WR basket. He can throw on the run and evades pressure with his speed. Smith also makes throws in tight windows and is a solid player for Plainfield North. Hudl: https://www.hudl.com/profile/12849562 Grant Zak - Zak is apart of the class of 2022 who plays WR, he stands at 6'3" 175 lbs and last season he played on JV where he had glimpses of his potential as he develops further. During his time on JV he made plays and showcased his skillset against that level of competition, with him coming onto varsity this year hopefully we will see some of the same. Hudl: https://www.hudl.com/profile/13323662 <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>West Aurora:</strong></em></span> Matthew Brown - Brown is apart of the class of 2021 who plays WR, he's a deep threat who runs a nice 9 route and high points the ball. Brown has a nice stick at the top of the route and makes contested catches. He looks to build upon last season's momentum as the start of the season is near. Hudl: https://www.hudl.com/profile/9776890 Blake Huberty - Huberty is apart of the class of 2021 who plays QB, he has nice speed to him and has quick acceleration. Huberty is a lefty QB who can throw on the run and has a solid touch on the deep ball. He gets the job done for West Aurora and will command their offense heading into this season. Hudl: https://www.hudl.com/profile/9776912 <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>Yorkville:</strong></em></span> Cole Ferguson - Ferguson is apart of the class of 2021 who plays WR, last season he accumulated 40 catches for 487 yards for Yorkville's offense. He is a deep threat who runs a solid 9 route and beats his defenders with his quick acceleration. Ferguson has a solid stick at the top of his routes that creates separation from defenders and can make contested catches. Once he catches the ball he plants his foot and gets upfield. Ferguson is a solid player for Yorkville's offense and one to keep an eye on heading into this season. He has a solid foundation for his throwing abilities, he now needs to develop them further to command Yorkville's offensive unit. Kraus is a name to put on your radar as he has the potential to have a breakout year.
