*NEW PROSPECTS ADDED ALERT* The Illinois High School Showcases are the best thing to happen to Illinois High School Football in some time. Sanctioned by the IHSA, these events bring multiple schools together in a particular region to provide an efficient way for prospects to gain exposure and college programs to evaluate talent. The Western Burbs Combine hosted 15 schools, over 300 talented prospects, and over 100 college representatives in attendance. At this particular combine, the defensive line group was an absolute show. Below are a select few that elevated amongst the rest.

[player_tooltip player_id='2174761' first='AJ' last='Redmon'] | St. Francis | 2029

Redmon was an absolute monster on the night in the interior. At a listed size of 6020 325, Redmon was easily the largest human on the turf amongst the D-Block, but also was likely the best combination of size and athleticism at the event. During the agility drills, he showed he can really move. He showed hustle, bend, burst, and would beat smaller athletes in head to head competition drills. During the one on ones, he was completely dominant and overwhelmingly powerful playing over the football rushing the passer. The young man just turned 15 earlier this month. He is a national prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='2209937' first='Tre' last='Jordan'] | Metea Valley | 2028

The top prospect rushing off the edge was the rising junior from Metea Valley. Jordan is listed at 6030 210 and has a great frame with plenty of length and athletic ability. He put his athleticism on display during the agility drills, running smooth, moving fluid, bending at the ankles. In one on ones, looks aggressive in his stance, comes off the ball like a flash, twitched up and quick at the point of attack, reactive with his hands, used his long arms to swat blockers and create separation. Once free he showed his burst and juice in acceleration to the X.

TOP COMPETITORS

[player_tooltip player_id='2209948' first='Jamarie' last='Lymon'] | DeKalb | 2027

Lymon looked particularly good going through all the agility and competition drills. At 6010 250, he was one of the best big athletes at the event. He can bend the ankles and move, has bounce in his step, fluidity in his stride, loose in the hips, very good big man mobility. Lymon has a thick build, a proper interior defensive lineman body type. Looking for his first offer, and playing multiple positons on both sides of the ball, he is one to watch this camp season into the fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1409250' first='Kendrick' last='Crite'] | Kankakee | 2029

'KJ' is a four-sport athlete and twice champion in the discus, and he displayed that athletic power and fluidity throughout the night. Crite is listed at 6030 230 and has excellent size and frame for a rising sophomore. He has lots of bounce to his step and moves with very good lateral agility. At the point of attack, he is powerful and uses his arm reach to create space and generate push into the backfield. His lower body strength powers his rush. In one on ones, he lined up inside at DL3T, was very quick with his hands and won with technique, twitch and lateral quickness.

[player_tooltip player_id='2209952' first='Labron' last='Grundy-Scott'] | Kankakee | 2028

The other impressive Kankakee underclassman was the rising junior standing at a listed 6010 235. LGS has a very good looking frame, was bendy and athletic running through the competitive agilities and winning on a consistent basis. He moves very well with burst and quickness at the point of attack. Very quick to get release to the X, he showed accelerative burst and lots of juice.

[player_tooltip player_id='2209953' first='Ryder' last='Stroup'] | Glenbard West | 2028

Stroup was probably the best combination of frame size, build and length coming off the edge during one on ones at a listed size of 6030 245. Stroup is aggressive in his stance, corners with great bendability, changes direction under control. Off the ball, he shows good quicks, very strong on the bullrush, easy mover, overpowered some of the best offensive linemen during the one on one periods.

[player_tooltip player_id='1334164' first='Jyheir' last='Sutton'] | Kankakee | 2027

Sutton is a name we were well aware of and impressed with his motor and drive throughout the course of the night. Listed at 6000 290, Sutton was a bowling ball that caused disruption taking reps and multiple positions on the defensive front. Through the competitive agilities, he displayed good bend. In one on ones, he was quick and explosive out of his stance, had power to his stride, put linemen on their heels with his ability to close the gap off the edge, and dominated with his upper body and hand strength to control the point of attack.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140268' first='Dujuan' last='Hester'] | Neuqua Valley | 2027

The defensive lineman/wrestler definitely displayed the ability to operate using leverage. Hester is listed at 6000 260, has a thick build and compact. He played with great hustle and motor, went hard through the competitive agilities and one on one drills. Came off the ball with flat back and was really able to generate some push into the backfield. Hester was highly competitive at the point of attack.

[player_tooltip player_id='2209955' first='Tyler' last='Harris'] | St. Francis | 2027

Harris was the smallest of the productive defensive lineman, but no one on the other end would be the wiser in the way he went about his business. Harris is listed only at 5090 211, but played well above his frame. He is compact but athletic with a very high motor and can really bend and win with quickness and athletic ability. He got good push into the backfield with his lower body strength and natural leverage, was quick with his hands, loved executing the swim move, and consistently won with his shifty change of direction.

[player_tooltip player_id='2209956' first='Jalen' last='Vanoy'] | Neuqua Valley | 2027

Vanoy is listed at 6020 225 with some decent bulk on his interior defensive line frame. He was very smooth during the cone and competitive agility drills, showed easy bend and change of direction, very good lateral agility. In one on ones, he played with good leverage, got great pad level off the ball, churned his feet on contact and got consistent push into the backfield.

[player_tooltip player_id='2209958' first='Matt' last='Schlieben'] | Glenbard West | 2028

Schlieben is listed at 6040 230 and competed with an excellent frame and notable length. He was another that looked smooth during the agility drills, showed bend at the waist and and knees. During the one on ones, he got very good depth into the backfield with his long strides.

[player_tooltip player_id='2144096' first='Gianni' last='Fonash'] | Naperville North | 2027

Fonash is listed at 6020 230 and impressed with his competitiveness during the agility sessions. He showed quick feet, bendability at the ankles, cornered well off the cones, got after it with a high motor, nice acceleration and finishing burst.

[player_tooltip player_id='2144783' first='Nate' last='Fenton'] | Naperville Central | 2027

Fenton was a rising senior that looked good on the hoof at 6030 215 and went through drills with notable motor and competitiveness. He showed quickness and agility, got after every drill hard, and displayed some decent finishing burst.

[player_tooltip player_id='1719351' first='Tajh' last='Evans'] | St. Francis | 2029

Evans was one of the super young prospects that showed some down the road potential. At 5110 221, he needs to be stretched out a bit over the next couple years, but showed lots of natural bend and athletic ability going through the agility drills. He is another that is just a recently turned 15 year old, and has lots of drive and motivation to excel. He is one we will track as he grows and develops.
