Westlake:
The 11-1 Lions are having a special season, and a lot of that can be attributed to sophomore QB RJ Johnson. The sensational 2023 dual-threat QB had as breakout season this fall, going 190/268 for 3,260 yards and 27 touchdowns. His 136.9 QB rating is phenomenal for someone his age. He’s led an explosive Westlake offense that has scored at least 42 points in six of their last 7 games. He’s one of the top young QBs in the state and has a real chance at being a state champion in 2020.
Westlake senior WRs Dacari Collins Dacari Collins 6'4" | 200 lbs | WR Westlake | 2021 State GA and Leo Blackburn Leo Blackburn 6'5" | 210 lbs | TE Westlake | 2021 State GA are both having excellent seasons and have made it very easy for Johnson to have the year that he’s having. Collins, a future Clemson Tiger, caught 51 passes for 868 yards and 8 TDs this fall. On the other side, Blackburn has caught 51 balls for 1,059 yards and 10 TDs.
Another Westlake senior to know is ATH Nathaniel Wiggins Nathaniel Wiggins 6'3" | 160 lbs | DB Westlake | 2021 State GA . Like Collins, Wiggins is a future Clemson Tiger and one of the top prospects to know in the country. The playmaking athlete does a little bit of everything for Westlake, playing lights out at defensive back while catching 16 passes for 428 yards and 5 TDs. He’s excellent in the return game as well, but he’ll likely play DB at the next level due to his length and ball skills. The 6-foot-2 170-pounder should have an instant impact in every phase of the game this upcoming weekend.
Lee County:
The 11-1 Trojans are playing their best football of their season and their offense is playing better and better. Their defense, led by senior linebacker Baron Hopson, has been outstanding all year. Hopson is Lee County’s leading tackler and won First Team All-State and All-Region Honors as a Sophomore and Junior. The 5-foot-10 220-pounder holds offers from Georgia Tech, Indiana, Duke, Cincinnati, among others.
The Trojans also have impressive junior defender, Jaron Willis. The big 6-foot-2 220-pound safety/linebacker hybrid reminds many of former Lee County star, Otis Reese, the former four-star currently playing at Ole Miss. Willis is an intimidating defender who knows how to deliver a hit and help stop the run.
Running back Caleb McDaniel is another major prospect to watch. He’s carried the Trojans offense on his back all year and has consistently found the end-zone all fall. The 5-foot-10 175-pounder was the biggest reason for Lee County’s big win last week over River Ridge, rushing for 5 touchdowns on just 11 carries in their 49-31 in over River Ridge.
