Charlie Graefen #19 (WR, LB) – Lincoln-Way Central – Class of 2021
Graefen is a dominant force at WR for Lincoln-Way Central, he has tremendous speed and acceleration. He runs good routes and sticks at the top of the routes which creates separation from the defenders making him become wide open. His head fake on double moves allows him to beat defenders deep and works back to the ball. Last season Graefen had 24 receptions for 257 yards and 2 touchdowns, he looks to build upon that strong season and the conference should be on the lookout for this player.
Zac Steffek #22 (RB) – Lincoln-Way West – Class of 2021
Steffek is fast, agile, and has great acceleration which allows him to blow by defenders on the second level. He reads his blocks well and this helps him in the return game where he has immense playmaking abilities in. He is a North/South runner who likes to run right up the gut full steam ahead. He isn’t afraid to run people over by lowering his shoulder and playing through contact. Steffek is on the verge of a breakout season where he can build upon last season’s numbers.
Ethan McCarty #6 (RB, WR) – Bradley Bourbonnais – Class of 2021
McCarty has immense speed and acceleration, this is shown in his North/South running style where he bursts past the second level of the defense. He isn’t afraid of contact and likes to initiate contact with defenders where he runs people over. He reads blocks well and has a solid jump cut which makes him harder to tackle, he has big-play abilities and this is set up with the inside-out running attack that Bradley Bourbonnais displays. McCarty can be an All-Conference player this season and can play at the next level. Keep an eye on him, he’s going to play a big part of this offense this season.
Ahmad Ghouleh #5 (WR, FS) – Stagg – Class of 2021
Ghouleh has a good burst of speed and acceleration to get past the second level of defenders which also helps him in the return game. He accelerates quickly at the line of scrimmage making it difficult to slow him down making him a deep threat where he can easily score touchdowns if you underestimate him. He has a good stick at the top of his routes breaking the defender off creating separation. Ghouleh has the ability to change the momentum of each game with big plays in the return game and at WR for Stagg.
Trevor Griffin Trevor Griffin 5'10" | 175 lbs | ATH Andrew | 2021 IL #3 (QB) – Andrew – Class of 2021
Griffin is one of those hybrid QB’s that can get it done in the air and in the ground game. He finished last season with 10 rushing touchdowns and 9 passing touchdowns. He has quick acceleration, breaks tackles by evading sacks in the pocket, and scrambles for the first down. He throws a tight spiral which puts the deep ball right into the receiver’s basket. He does this with his good footwork in the pocket, he also has breakaway speed which causes defenders to take bad angles to tackle him causing them to miss. Griffin will have a big season for Andrew and I wouldn’t be surprised if he not only makes All-Conference but All-Area as well.
These athletes all make big plays for their teams and play a major part in the offensive schemes. All of these athletes have that big playmaking ability in their own regard. It’s not a matter of can they make plays rather one of how many plays are they going to make in each game.
